Hi I'm Anna

I'm an academic, an honors graduate from college, a full-time mom, an in-home preschool teacher and a Mormon.

About Me

I find interest in almost everything. I'm an academic - I love science, literature, the arts, social sciences, and I'm even warming up to math a little! Every time I start learning something new I get sucked right into it, and my mind fills with questions. I want to know everything about everything. My curiosity is almost unquenchable. I loved being a child and watching as my dad would show me how to fix sprinklers, change the oil in our car, fix the sink...anything. I love as I watch my husband now fixes pianos and furniture. I love to watch him, and listen to him, and learn everything I can from him. My interests are all over the map! I love to play piano, write and read. I enjoy being the life of the party and having a quiet evening at home. I love the idea of creating something new - sewing, building, writing, creating websites, crafting, even creating newsletters and documents on the computer! I take great joy in inspiring others to be better or improve themselves. Though I swore as I child I never would, I ended up spending four years as a teacher and teacher's aide. I loved working with disadvantaged kids and those with learning disabilities the most because I felt they were the most open to love and help. I loved helping them see they had huge potential and were very valuable individuals. I try to pass these values of education and self-worth onto my own children as I interact with them each day.

Why I am a Mormon

I can't imagine not being a Mormon, and not because I am ignorant of other religious beliefs - I was a Religious Studies minor in college. No, it is not because I am unaware of life outside of my Latter-day Saint family, but because I am poignantly aware of the very real positive effects of applying the teachings of the Gospel of Christ in my life. I owe my family, my stability, direction, and contentment to the Gospel Tenants. The very practical teachings of living debt-free, paying tithing and living and below your income have not brought us untold riches, but have kept us financially secure and blessed by the Lord. The precepts of love, family as the priority, forgiveness, service and repentance keep my family together. I feel we would not be where we are today if it were not for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The Gospel of Jesus Christ gives me hope and motivation because it means I do not have to be the same person tomorrow that I am today. Nor am I the same person today that I was yesterday, and I am so grateful for that!

How I live my faith

I used to work with the children - I kept track of attendance, created newsletters and did other administrative things, but I also got to teach the children and help them feel the Spirit. Now I teach the adult women once a month. We talk about real, contemporary issues in our lives and how the Gospel of Jesus Christ helps us as we work through these difficult situations.

What is faith?

Faith is receiving an answer moving forward with it even if you don't know why it is the answer or how it will ever work out. Faith is an action, not just a feeling. People with faith work and move forward despite doubts and fears. Show more Show less
