Hi I'm Cory

I am an Engineering/Geology student. I love School. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am currently a college student. I live in an dorm with five other roommates. I enjoy participating in choir, photography, and watching movies like Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, and The Hunger Games, when I'm not busy with schoolwork. I also enjoy hanging out with my roommates and having fun.

Why I am a Mormon

I am currently a full-time Missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I sacrificed two years out of my life to serve my Heavenly Father. I put college on hold for two years not to get anything for myself besides feeling good and having the experience. I literally want to share my faith in God and Jesus Christ with those who didn't have the privilege of growing up in the Church like I did. I believe with all my heart that this church is true. Even though I grew up in the Church I had to learn for myself if this is true. I have had some experiences with prayer and scripture study that I can not deny its authenticity. On my mission I have been beat down for my beliefs. I have run into many “Bible Bashers” and people yelling and making obscene gestures while I have been riding my bike in the missionary get-up: white shirt, tie, and black name tag. My faith has been strengthened. I believe Joseph Smith was the prophet who restored Christ's Church to its fullness. I believe that the Book of Mormon came from where Joseph said it did. It is true. I have come closer to Christ through the Book of Mormon than any other book. You can too if you truly read it with a sincere heart, a real intent to do what you learn, and a faith in Jesus Christ. (see Moroni 10:3-5) Please talk with the “Mormon Missionaries” It will make their day. And they can really help guide you to find your faith in Christ.

How I live my faith

I went to one Semester at Brigham Young University (typical Mormon right?) in Provo, Utah. There I started taking classes that I was interested in like Intro to Civil Engineering and Geology. Most people think if you have a lot of knowledge in science and that type of thinking it is hard to believe in God. But I find the opposite to be true. My feelings are: Science is HOW it happened. And Religion is WHY it happened. Science strengthens my belief in God. He is why this world and universe work so perfect. When I was taking my Geology class they went over the Evolution Theory. I find the theory to be evidence that God knew what He was doing. That the human race couldn't have been accident. We all are not a product of a little speck just accidentally exploding one day, but a product of something that took divine intervention. Human beings were made capable to think, learn, grow, change over time, create huge cities, and discover advanced technologies. Did this all come by chance? I don't think so. God created us in His image. He wants us to be as happy as He is, so He gave us this world. This life is for us to receive bodies, have families, to make choices, to perform our labors. And we need all these things to be able to return to God's presence. I love learning about the science and physics of this world and how it was made. But I also love to learn about who made it and why it was made. I love to know that I have a Heavenly Father who is there for me and I can talk to him whenever to help me to be better and to be happier.
