Hi I'm Anna Mahas

I'm from Utah. I'm studying nursing. I'm a mormon.

About Me

I love writing music for the piano and the guitar, and I love to sing! My hobbies also include painting, photography, learning new languages, meeting new people, and playing sports- especially basketball! I have 2 brothers, and 2 sisters, and we enjoy spending time together. I lived in New Zealand for 18 months, and love the Polynesian people. I am currently attending college, studying Nursing and Spanish.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints my entire life, but there comes a time when you have to know for yourself if what you are hearing is true. We can ask God, through prayer, if certain things are true, and He answers us through His Spirit, also known as the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost can come to everyone in different ways; some common ways are feelings of happiness, thoughts in your mind, feelings of peace in your mind and heart, etc. So, I decided to ask God in prayer a simple question: If He was really there, and if He was really listening to me. I didn't get an immediate answer right that minute, but in the following days and weeks, my prayers were concretely answered. It was through things I felt as people spoke; it was through impressions that came to my mind while I was continuing to think about that question, and most of all, it was through a feeling inside me every single time after that when I prayed. When I started my prayers, it was almost like I was more conscious of the words I was speaking because I knew He was listening to me. I knew I was His daughter, and He was my Father in Heaven. The world may say we cannot know if God exists or not, but I know He has given us a way that we can know: through the influence of His Spirit, the Holy Ghost. We can all feel this gift come and go at times, but when we are baptized a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, we receive this gift to be with us always! That power was taken off the earth shortly after Christ died, and was brought back through the prophet Joseph Smith. I encourage any who are seeking answers to questions in life to ask God, through sincere prayer, ANY question they have, whether it seems important or not, and I promise He will answer you just as He did me. What matters to you matters to God.

How I live my faith

I try to live my faith every single day by being an example of the Savior. Jesus Christ constantly served others, and I never feel happier than when I serve those around me. I try to actively serve my community, reaching out to those of all faiths and denominations, to help all of God's children in need. Currently, I am teaching a class to help people understand why Mormon temples are so important and how everyone can prepare to enter! (including you!). I also had the opportunity to serve as a full-time missionary for the Mormon church in Auckland, New Zealand. As a missionary, we got to teach people the steps they can take in their personal lives so they could be with their families again after death. God placed us here in families, and He intends that the family unit will last forever. We can be with our families after death also if we follow the example of His Son, Jesus Christ!
