Hi I'm Matt

I was born in England, preparing to be a full time missionary in the France Lyon mission. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love life. I feel that one of the most important things we can do during our sojourn here on earth is to be happy! I love the outdoors - an attribute I stole from my parents. I really enjoy football, rugby, snowboarding, swimming and most other active things outdoors. I also like meeting new people and getting to know different ways of thinking and outlooks on life. I love my family and I am lucky to have them. I believe that the relationships we have with our loved ones play a vital role in our true happiness and that these relationships, thanks to God, can endure the eternities. I believe in giving of ourselves to lift those around us. I know that we each have talents that we have received as gifts from our loving Father in Heaven. And I strongly believe that as we search and exercise these talents, in helping and serving others, we grow and we start to fulfill the divine potential that we have.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents, being members of the church already, have raised me up and have taught me the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ since I was born. This often leads to the natural thought "well that is why you're a Mormon..." However with much deeper reflection and reasoning it is evident that I am ultimately free to choose; there is always a moment in one's life when an evaluation is made of the reasons for doing things. For me this led me to find out my reasons for believing and doing the things that I do. The peace and satisfaction that comes from knowing that God is there and that his love for us is perfect is huge. I don't always understand the reason for everything that happens in my life, however knowing that God loves me and wants what is truly best for me gives me a reassurance and support system that is unbreakable. The gospel of Jesus Christ teaches that we need to change and improve: to become. It provides us with the recipe to allow us to make these necessary changes and as a result we feel an immense joy from knowing that we are on the right path to getting to where God wants us to be.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying my best to put my life in line with the will of God. By making choices that may take effort, sacrifice and sometimes may not make sense. but which are highly rewarding; for example by going to church, and by staying as obedient as I can be to the commandments. This enables me to strengthen my own personal conviction and by applying the laws that bring eternal happiness in my life it reminds me of the love that God has for me. I live my faith by trying my best to help those around me. I feel that after having done my best to love God the second most important thing I can do is to share that love that He has for each one of us. We need to look after our brothers and sisters, for that is what we are: one big family. As we lose ourselves in the service of others we grow in stature and we come to better understand the love that our Heavenly Father has for each one of us - which is perfect and undying.
