Hi I'm Jen

I was born in California, but grew up in Utah...I am a single mom with two great kids!

About Me

I am a second grade school teacher who loves to spend time with family, run, paint and read. In August of 2012 I finished my first ½ marathon!!! It was hard, but well worth the experience. I have been divorced for three years and have been alone for five. The past few years have been some of the most refining because I went back to school, got my degree while trying to raise a family and make ends meet, but just like I said to myself during my ½ marathon, “I CAN do hard things!”

Why I am a Mormon

I am LDS (a Mormon) because I know God loves me. I was born into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but my individual conversion and testimony came when I was in my youth. I grew up in a home with an abusive father, but even though I was mistreated regularly; I always knew I could pray and feel a special closeness, comfort and love from my Father-in-Heaven. My beliefs in God, and His son Jesus Christ, are the only things that save me on a daily basis. I am who I am today because of my experiences. I am grateful for them because they keep me close to the Savior. One of my favorite scriptures is in 2 Corinthians 12: 7-10. The Apostle Paul basically states that he glories in his infirmities because it is then that he feels the power of Christ rest upon him. That through his persecutions, distresses and reproaches for Christ’s sake… when he is weak or (humbled) he is made strong.

How I live my faith

I have the opportunity to serve in my church by teaching once a month. One of my favorite lessons was about the Savior, Jesus Christ and how he suffered and atoned for all of our sins. I taught that He is mindful of us and that we can come to Him, in prayer, during any time of need. I am grateful for the chance to serve by reaching out to others and sharing my beliefs and experiences. We are mutually edified and learn and grow together.
