Hi I'm Cherisa

I'm twenty years old, I've lived in Utah for most of my life and been a Mormon for my entire life.

About Me

I'm twenty years old, and I've lived in Utah for most of my life. I have an associates degree and have worked in all kinds of jobs from janitorial, to dental assisting, to selling knives. I love spending time with my family, especially babysitting my cute niece and nephew. I love watching movies, playing games, photography, and especially watching and performing in live theater.

Why I am a Mormon

Right now, I'm getting ready to serve a mission in Eugene Oregon, and I am so excited. I am excited to take time out of my life and serve, because when I serve I feel God's love for me and for the people I serve. I know of no better feeling than love. I'm a Mormon because when I do what I'm supposed to, and live my life the way I know I should, God's love is around me all the time. I feel it. It keeps me safe, and it fills me with a joy and peace that I've never been able to find anywhere else. Of course I make mistakes, and when I do, that guilt is horrible. I don't think I've felt anything worse than the pain and suffering that comes with sin. But, I've also never had a sweeter feeling than what comes from taking the atonement of Christ into my life and having him wipe away the hurt. I'm a Mormon because I love the way it makes me feel. I cannot imagine my life without the blessings that have come to me and my family without it.

How I live my faith

For me, being a Mormon is a lifestyle, as well as something that shapes me and helps me to become a better person. It helps with every minute of every day. I love knowing that I have a ward family that will be there for me. I love having help with any decision, help that can only make me better. I choose not to do things that will harm me.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Cherisa
Personally, I don't like the word required. And I feel like the church doesn't either. As Mormons, we do things because we WANT TO!! We want to feel the love of God when we do what we should. We want the blessings that come with church callings and responsibilities. I was just barely called to serve for 18 months in Eugene Oregon. And I'm unbelievably excited. I know that I have had so many incredible experiences, simply because I'm a Mormon, and I want to share that with people. I love feeling the peace and love that comes from being a part of this church, and I want others to feel that to. I'm not required to go on a mission. I'm going because I want to. Why is family so important to Mormons?

Cherisa
I love my family, and I know that they love me. Everybody in this world simply wants to be loved right? So do I!!! I love knowing that there are people out there that will love me no matter what. Families teach us how to love and how to deal with people out in the real world. Every important lesson that can be learned can and should be taught and enforced in the home. What better place to escape from the frustration, hassle, and sorrow of the world, than to come home to a family who loves and cares about you. Show more Show less
