Hi I'm Ada

I have homeschooled five children and taught in a private school. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was a computer programmer before I married, but became a full time mom when I had my children. I homeschooled my children for twelve years and went on to teach other children in a private school. Now I am a grandmother and retired. I love to garden. I have a big vegetable garden every year and a dozen fruit trees. I also sew and enjoy hiking. These days it is usually just a walk in the neighborhood. My husband and I are preparing to serve a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

My parents were active members of the church so I was raised in it. There was a time in my late teens that I worried that I was a Mormon just because that how I was raised. I had a hard time believing that God is really a personal God that knows and cared about me. This was easy to believe when I was a child, but when one come to understand how big the world is and how many people there are, it becomes incredible. I worried and prayed about it for several months. One day when I was attending a meeting we stood and sang a hymn, They Spirit of God. And I felt the spirit. I knew that everything I had been taught all my life was true and that God knew me. I know that God is not limited like humans are; he knows and cares about each us. He will be as close to us as we let him. When he seems far away it is because I have drawn away. When I turn back to him, he is there waiting for me. Through the atonement of Christ I can be forgiven of my past mistakes and start again and gradually become more like Christ. And he is there for each of us.

How I live my faith

I like to give my homegrown vegetables and fruit to my neighbors and friends. I visit other women as for whom I have a responsibility to give watch care. I have taught both children and adults in Sunday classes. For several years my husband and I have served as volunteers in the temple.
