Hi I'm Alycen

I love family, friends, adventures, hiking, food, learning, and music!! I am a Mormon!!

About Me

I am the youngest of ten children, and love my family! I also love getting to know new people from all walks of life, especially people from other countries. I think that people are fascinating and that there is something to be learned from everyone. I have worked with the elderly and love hearing about their lives and stories. I have been attending college. I am majoring in Health Science and minoring in medical assisting. I am now preparing to serve a mission, I am sooo EXCITED! I love life. I love trying new things, traveling, hiking, running, and singing. I have a strong love for music and believe that it can speak to the soul. I think that this earth is beautiful and enjoy beholding all its natural splendor. Family, music, and nature all bring peace to my soul. My favorite kind of music is indie rock, folk music, soundtracks from movies, and hymns. My all-time favorite song is "Clair de Lune," by Debussy, that one just speaks to me!! (I would like to clarify that I loved it before that "Twilight" movie came out). One of my favorite things to do is simply sit at the piano, play the hymns and sing. Another thing that brings peace to me is to write in my journal, it seems to always help me see things clearer, I should write more often. Oh, and I LOVE to laugh! My wise brother once said, "life is too serious to be serious." Ooo another thing I like are good quotes and good books. Man, I just love life!

Why I am a Mormon

I was blessed to be born into a Mormon family and a Mormon community. You might think that I am a Mormon simply because my parents are and that is just what people are where I am from, but this is not the case. I am a Mormon because I love my Savior Jesus Christ and I know that this gospel is true. I know that the gospel was restored through Joseph Smith and that he also translated the Book of Mormon with divine assistance. I know that Priesthood has been restored and that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is run with the correct authority and keys. I know that we have a living Prophet today who is God’s mouthpiece. I know that Heavenly Father loves all of his children and that He wants us all to participate in the saving ordinances of the gospel so that we can return to live with Him. Heavenly Father loves us so much that He sent His only begotten son to atone for the sins of all mankind. I know that it is only through the atonement of Jesus Christ and through keeping the sacred ordinances and covenants I have made that I can return to live with my Father in Heaven. I am a Mormon because living this gospel has brought me knowledge of who I am, why I am on Earth, and where I can eventually be. Living the gospel has brought me joy, peace, guidance, and strength. I know that I am here to be tested, tried, to gain a body, to learn, and to grow. I know that I am a daughter of a Heavenly King who is ever watchful and wants to bless me. I know He loves me enough to give me trials and let me grow. I know that I can return to live with Him and that my family can be sealed forever, that I can have eternal joy. This is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being true to who I am. I know that I am a child of God, and try my very hardest to act like it. I am far from perfect, but I believe perfection is a journey. I always try to be a little more compassionate, understanding, and genuine. A big part of how I live my faith is how I treat all of Heavenly Father's creations, including others and myself. I like to pray each day for an opportunity to serve someone. That prayer is always answered. I love listening to people and trying to understand them and why they feel the way they do. I know that I can always be more understanding. I try to treat people with the respect they deserve, which is a lot, everyone deserves respect! I also treat myself with respect, by living a chaste life, abstaining from alcohol, drugs, caffeine, and other addictive substances. When we came to this earth we were given a body and it is a temple. I try my best to take care of my body. I also take care of my spirit as I do the things listed above. I always try my hardest to participate in wholesome entertainment that encourages good morals. I also live my faith by attending church meetings every week, reading my scriptures and praying to our Heavenly Father daily, and attending the temple frequently. Mostly I live my faith by doing my best to love others and try to develop Christ like attributes. I strive to always be learning more about the gospel.
