Hi I'm Terri Nguyen

I'm a working wife and mother. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm married to my best friend and we have a seven year old son. I met my husband while I was adopting his son. His birth mother was a family friend. We fell in love and got married. We've been trying for several years to have another baby. After two miscarriages we haven't given up. Our son was diagnosed with Becker's MD last year. So far he has no complications from the disease. We are prayerful that he will be able to live a full productive life. I love to read, it' something that I make time for between working and taking care of my family. I think that reading provides me with a way to escape the rigors of the day and go on great adventures. I try to instill the love of reading to my son. I tell him people who read books are the smartest people.

Why I am a Mormon

As I was getting ready for my first high school game at fourteen my Mom called me to come answer the door. When I opened the door to the two young guys in ties and white shirts I had no idea how meeting them would change my life. I invited them in and they introduced themselves as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. After they told us what they were about, they asked if they could come back when my Dad was home and tell us more. My Mom wanted to say no, she wasn't even going to let them in but I made her. I told her to say yes. I just felt it was the right thing to do. They came back and kept coming. When they encouraged us to read the Book of Mormon I did. I felt the Holy Ghost telling me it was true. When they taught us about Joseph Smith's vision, I felt the Holy Ghost telling me it was true. When they taught us about the Savior coming to the American Continent I felt the Holy Ghost telling me it was true. Twenty-two years later I still know with all my being that it is true. Even though until recently no one in my family attended church but me I kept going. My testimony of the Gospel of Jesus Christ grew and it continues to grow. Each night when my son reads scriptures with me I feel the spirit touching him. When I attend church or when we have the honor of hearing our Prophet speak I still feel the Holy Ghost telling me it is true and I know this is where I belong. This is our Heavenly Father's church, the same church set up by our Savior Jesus Christ when he was on the earth. I know that Christ still presides over the church today and that he communicates to us through the scriptures, through prayer and through Prophets. I love this church, I know that by following the teachings of this church I am following our Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I live in an area where we have a small congregation at church. The fun part about that is that you can be more like a family then just a church group. Most of the people in my Church are related or have known each other for most of their lives. I moved in about four years ago. Since then my parents have started to come. It's exciting each week to go visit with my "church family" and see how everyone is doing. I have the privilege of teaching the adult ladies class twice a month. I love to teach. I learn so much as I prepare the lessons. When people come to me and tell me I'm a good teacher and they enjoyed the lessons I just tell them the Holy Ghost taught the lesson I was just the mouth piece.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Terri Nguyen
Yes. If there was a need for Prophets in Biblical times there is even more of a need for a Prophet now. This world today is full of iniquity. Our Heavenly Father loves us. He wouldn't abandon us. Show more Show less
