Hi I'm Kaitlyne Jean Marie Hurd

I come from a little town in Connecticut called Old Lyme. I'm a medical student, future missionary, and I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I was given a very long name so everyone just calls me Kate! I grew up as a Navy Brat, and therefore I have lived in a lot of different places. I am an "in-between" child out of my four other siblings. I have three loving parents. I was born into the church, and my family line has always been in the church since the Pioneer Days. I LOVE serving everyone around me and in my ward, running, going to school, reading, listening to music, playing games with my little sister, working at my job, attending church, and teaching an awesome Primary class! I am currently taking classes in the medical field, and plan on becoming an ER Doctor!

Why I am a Mormon

Like I said before, I was born into the church. If you've ever seen a kid screaming in the arms of a mother, because she is about to take them somewhere they don't want to be, then you have the perfect image of me as a kid. My mother is quit an amazing example and role model for me. She didn't lighten up when I asked her if I could stay home from Girl’s Camp or just skip the night's church activities, and for that I am truly in her debt. I have always known that we have a Heavenly Father and that Jesus is the Son of God, but it wasn't until I was at Girl's Camp one year that I actually formed a testimony about the Gospel. We were watching a video by Gordon B. Hinckley, a man who I have never met but love so very much, and in this video he was giving us advice. At first I just wanted to go back my tent, slumber down into my sleeping bag, and call it a night, but then I started to pay attention. The Prophet, at that time, had just told us his testimony of the church and then he told us how much he loved each and every one of us! At that moment the most amazing feeling ran through my body, and I realized right there and then that he was right about everything! After sharing many tears with the other campers I went back to my tent, and read my scriptures. I read a verse from the scriptures and realized that everything I had been taught is true, that I really and truly am a Daughter to a loving Heavenly Father, and that I am a member to the true church on this earth called The Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by being open about what I believe in, not by being overbearing, but it's no secret to my friends and coworkers that I love the Gospel! Growing up in the church has given me the great opportunity to serve everyone around me, and the many amazing members in the wards I have lived in. I hang out with a lot of people who are not members, and most of them commend me for being stubborn in my ways of living a righteous and honest life. I know for a fact that if you believe in Heavenly Father and live your life by His standards, then you will have nothing to fear because he is taking care of you, and is beside you during everything that happens to you.
