Hi I'm Kerri

I grew up in Idaho, USA, and now live in Iowa. I am a wife, a stay-at-home mother of 6, a student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Besides being a wife and mother, I am a piano teacher and have a degree in elementary education. I am an avid baseball fan, a reader, and a student at the local university. I take one class each semester that my children are in school. I someday hope to take the master's level classes to become a marriage and family therapist, but those classes are only taught in the evening which time is not conducive to family life. My kids range in age from 23-11 years. I volunteer every week at the public schools my kids attend to stay up-to-date with the faculty and goings on.

Why I am a Mormon

I am grateful to know about the gospel of Jesus Christ. I was born into a family that followed His gospel and are members of His true church. I attended seminary, a class for high school kids before school where the scriptures are taught, as well as church throughout my childhood. I came to know the Savior as an adolescent who yearned to have an older brother to love and protect me and I realized that I had the best big brother who not only loved me unconditionally, but yearned for me to become someone like Him. He took my sins upon Himself in the hopes that I would use His atoning sacrifice and I feel His approval as I continually repent and align my life and choices with His. I am grateful to know that He has called modern prophets and apostles and restored His church and priesthood power through Joseph Smith, a prophet. I know He guides me through His Holy Spirit as I am worthy and listen and follow the promptings that I'm given. I know He only gives commandments that we can follow and He always provides a way for us to do what He asks.

How I live my faith

I conduct our church congregation's choir. We usually sing for the congregation one Sunday every month. One of my daughters accompanies the choir. I also team-teach classes to help others strengthen their marriages and families. Each month I visit 4 ladies with my companion to share a gospel message, talk with her about her life and serve her and/or her family in any way that's needed.I believe that the Lord has worked through our congregation's priesthood leaders asking me to do these things to further His work on the earth within my sphere of influence. I have been given reponsibilities I would have thought to be beyond my ability and spiritual maturity to accomplish, but I know that He helps those who, like me, are willing to help Him do his work for us, His sisters and brothers.

How can we increase our faith in Jesus Christ?

Kerri
Christ told us as recorded in John 7:17, "If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself." I believe this means that anyone who tries to live the gospel of Jesus Christ will come to know that the author of the commandments is Jesus Christ and it is His and our Father in Heaven's will that we live according to these principles so we can be happy and learn to become like Them. We will also be a blessing to all people within the sphere of our influence. Show more Show less
