Hi I'm Sariah

I grew up moving around a lot, meeting a lot of people. I am about to serve a mission in New Zealand. I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hello! A bit about myself... Well, I love to read! I mostly read fantasy novels, and a couple of my favourite are the Lord of the Rings books and that oh-so-common Harry Potter series. My dream to complete the novel that I've had knocking around in my head for the past couple years. I don't even care whether its published as long as I finish it. I grew up moving around, but I've spent most of my life southwards; Texas, Mississippi, even Okinawa, Japan. I've come to the conclusion that I don't like heat very much. I like being warm, but not when I can't escape it. I did a couple of semesters at Brigham Young University-Idaho, but I came home to help out my family and prepare for a mission.

Why I am a Mormon

As a lifetime member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, I felt it easiest to just continue in the path that had always been there. However, over and over it was made clear that obeying the Lord because it was easiest, following the prophet just because I had never done anything else was wrong. It wasn't a conviction, it wasn't faith, and most importantly it wasn't real love for my Savior. And, more than that, I had wanted to be a missionary for this church and share His gospel for as long as I could remember. I knew that doing so when my own belief was without personal basis, but rather from those around me was wrong. So, I changed how I followed God's commandments. I started to act deliberately, prayer became earnest instead of rote, scripture study grew deeper rather than something on a check list. I took the sacrament, earnestly seeking repentance and change in my life, and I sought for others who could use a friend and companion, just like followers of Christ should do. As I followed the prophet more personally and worked to obey the teachings found in the Bible and Book of Mormon, I was happier and more fulfilled than I was before. I could see the hand of our Savior more clearly than ever and my testimony has grown unbelievably. I know that Jesus Christ is our Savior and that He is our brother. He watches out for us and protects us, and as we follow His example we are blessed emotionally, spiritually, and physically. I love our Savior and our Heavenly Father and the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I testify that as we follow the instructions that have been given to us, we can return to live with our Heavenly Father in joy and peace.

How I live my faith

I teach little ones at church. It's a group of about twelve (it varies from Sunday to Sunday; sick families, weekend vacations, etc.) all between the ages of five and seven. It's lovely teaching them! It's also given me important experience for how to teach people new in the gospel, so that's fantastic as well! Daily prayer, scripture study, and faith are a big part of my life as well.
