Hi I'm Gatlin

I was born and raised in Idaho and I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

About Me

I love hanging out with friends and family. Whenever I'm not working I'm doing something with my friends or staying at home being with my family. I like staying active and playing sports. My favorite way to stay active is to play basketball. I've had a few jobs but right now I work on a cattle ranch. It's a demanding job and the hours are long and sometimes not very flexible but it's good hard work and I like working hard. I like to fish and I also like to be in the outdoors as much as I can. I plan on going to college after I serve my mission.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because my parents were and they raised me up in the church. They taught me good values and beliefs that have stuck with me and I know that the church has helped me with those beliefs. I now go to church because I know it is true. For a while, however, I just went to church because my parents told me to. I didn't understand what was going on and I had no idea why people were always crying. When I was asked to share my testimony I just used parts of my parents. I knew that what I was saying was true, but I never really had a firm conviction of it. I had never really had that one big moment where a sudden rush of the spirit overwhelms you and confirms that the church is true, and for a while I thought I wasn't capable of having the spirit with me or that maybe I wasn't worthy. It seemed like everyone was talking about how they heard the spirit speak to them, like an actual physical voice coming from someone that they couldn't see shouting to them to make a decision or warning them of something. I remember wanting an experience like that but never getting one. As I've grown older I've realized that I've still never heard the spirit shouting to me. But I know that he has spoken to me quietly my entire life. It's never been a sudden shout of warning or prompting, but what I've felt is a quiet feeling so strong that I know it's the spirit. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is true. It has been restored through the prophet Joseph Smith and is being led by a prophet today. Both were called of God. Christ suffered for our sins and because of him we will be resurrected and we can live with him and Heavenly Father and with our families for an eternity. The scriptures are true. It is the word of God. God is our loving heavenly father who cares about us and wants us to return to him. This is my testimony and it is so important to me.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by participating in the church and going to activities and by serving in the callings that I've had.
