Hi I'm Debbie Boyce

I am a Mormon. I was born in Salt Lake City, Utah. I was raised in a family with seven kids, 4 girls and 3 boys.

About Me

I am married with 2 children - a boy and a girl. Both of our children are married and we have 9 grandchildren. Being a grandparent is the best! I enjoy being outside and I love to run and I have run many marathons and a few 1/2 marathons. I volunteer at my local hospital in the recovery room - and I love it! I learn so much as I assist the nurses.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints because it brings joy, peace, purpose and happiness to my life. I am currently preparing to serve a mission with my husband in the South Africa Cape Town Mission. I am very excited to serve in South Africa. I want to share what I know to be true. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. He knelt in the sacred grove in 1820 to pray to our Father in Heaven to know what Church to join at that time of religious revival. Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him and the restoration of the gospel began. The Book of Mormon was translated by Joseph Smith. This Book of Mormon is a history of the inhabitants of the American continent. It was written by Prophets, who taught of Christ, that lived in the Americas from 600 BC to the time that Christ was born and crucified. I know that the Book of Mormon is true. It contains precepts and commandments of Jesus Christ and if obeyed and followed it will bring happiness into our life. I know that we have a Prophet of God on the earth right now in Thomas S. Monson, and also 12 apostles that teach and instruct us, and if we follow their teachings it will bless our lives and bring happiness in this life and help us return to live with our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ in the next world. I know that Jesus is the Christ and died for our sins. And if we repent and live the best we can we will return to live with him, with our family. My goal is to do just that!

How I live my faith

The past 6 years I have served as a mentor for college age kids in the church. My service is concentrated at Dixie State College in St. George, Utah. I have helped these young single adults (YSA) organize service projects, spiritual experiences and fun activities. I have enjoyed worshiping with them on Sunday. I have cherished the experiences of learning from them as they lead and teach.

What is the Relief Society?

Debbie Boyce
To me Relief Society is an organization that enables women to study, grow, learn and experience the gospel together. Relief Society gives women the opportunity to teach each other, to learn from each others' experiences, achievements and trials in life. We share emotions and feelings. We cry together and we laugh together. We realize, as we as we share our feelings with each other, that we are not alone in this earthly test. Show more Show less
