Hi I'm James

I grew up in Las Vegas, NV. I am a Social Worker and I am a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I'm a father of five and just graduated with me MSW in May, 2012. I am a convert to the church and when I was in my twenties, I felt I was missing something in my life. After searching for many months/years, I started reading the Book of Mormon. I read it straight through in about 3 days, excluding work. I felt the spirit strongly, but like anything else I did not act on it for months. Finally after wanting to learn more and fullfilling my other obligations I had committed to, I decided to go to church. It was the best decision I ever made. I met my wife at the first institue class I ever attended and now 25 years later, we are still moving and growing in the gospel. As my daughter says it is awesome.

Why I am a Mormon

I have many reasons to contiue to be a member of the church. The blessings that I receive daily and the opportunities that are put forth by our Heavenly Father keep me wanting more knowledge of this true church. I am not a scriptorian like many people, but I do know what is in the scriptures. His teachings are what keep me coming back as well. I feel this is the most true church on this earth. By following his gospel we become closer to him and reading the Book of Morman and the other scriptures. Because we have a modern day Prophet, we are able to get reveletion from the Lord and know that he leads this church. I am also able to get revelation for myself and my family. The priesthood is on this earth, and I am one of many who is able to act in the name when giving a blessing. Heavenly Father blesses us and as we turn to him he will provide guidance and inspiration for those things that we have asked for. The Book of Mormon is the most correct book on this earth and as we read the Bible, Doctrine and Covenants and the Pearl of Great Price, we can gain insight into these other scriptures and the ordinances that we are suppose to do today. Being a Mormon is not hard, if you prepare. It is made up of small steps, and as you progress in the gospel, they become easier. But as each of us takes them one step at a time, step by step and with heavenly Fathers help we can come closer to him so in the next life we can be with him a gain.

How I live my faith

I live my faith one day at a time. Everyday we are face with challenges and decsions that we need to make. Because of the population of people I work with, there is forgiveness involved, and by forgiving these people I can move on and help them. Each of us makes mistakes and by not judging others we can help and overcome the little things. We are all human, so no matter how perfect we all think we are, we are all in need of improvement. I work with the youth, and the adults. In working with these people it brings me closer to the Lord.
