Hi I'm Josh

I love learning, music, and serving others. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a 19 year old serving a mission for the Church in Louisiana and Mississippi, and I absolutely love it. I love music, especially playing guitar, and spending time with the people I love. Before I left on my mission, I studied communications for a year in college, and learned that there in nothing as fun as learning something new about this awesome world we live in! One day I hope to be involved in journalism and TV Productions, and I love helping others!

Why I am a Mormon

A lot of people think that the reason I'm a Mormon is because my parents raised me in the Church, but that couldn't be further from the truth. While it is true that a lot of kid's beliefs follow those of their parents, for me it was different. Our chruch is all about comoing to know for yourself, and not just listening to what others say and borrowing their spiritual oil for your own lamp of testimony. That is something that I put to the test. By my own efforts and study, I came to know for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God, that Joseph Smith is a prophet called of God, and that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is the Lord's true church established again on the earth. For me, it surpasses just knowledge, because it is something that the Holy Ghost witnessed to my heart to be true. The amazing thing about it all is that the same witness is available to all honest seekers of truth. Sometimes people make it sound like being a Mormon is a difficult thing to do, but I couldn't disagree more! Jesus Christ taught that "the truth shall make you free," (John 8:32) and it really does. I know that this Church is true, and I know that Christ is at the head of it guiding it, and because I know it is true, living it does really "set me free" from physical, emotional, and spiritual burdens. There is no greater happiness than that which can be found from living the gospel of Jesus Christ as restored through the Prophet Joseph Smith - the way it was when Christ was here upon the earth. As we live His teachings and keep the commandments, we can live at peace with our lives, knowing that we have done our best and that "his grace is sufficent" for all the rest. Living the gospel and being a Mormon is the best decision I ever made!

How I live my faith

I live my faith by inviting others to come closer to Jesus Christ. As a missionary for the Church, I get to see people from all walks of life, and no matter what, I know that we can all find common ground in the Savior. His love for off of His children is something that binds us together. I believe that there is no such thing as too much faith, and because of that, I love what I do as a missionary. We don't go around tearing down the beliefs of others, but rather invite them to bring all the truth they have and see if we can't add to it. As we teach others about Christ, this really becomes apparent. No matter where you are in life, the gospel of Jesus Christ is meant for you!!

Are Mormons Christians?

Josh
100%, through and through. Our beliefs are completely centered in Jesus Christ and living His teachings. We know that "there is no flesh that can dwell in the presence of God, save it be through the merits, and mercy, and grace of the Holy Messiah." (2 Nephi 2:8, The Book of Mormon) We believe that when Jesus Christ said to His disciples "follow thou me," He established a pattern for all of God's children to live - doing as He did, loving others, and always seeking to become more like Him. (see Matthew 5:48) Jesus Christ is the Savior of the world, the only perfect being to ever live, and the only way by which we can return to dwell again with our Father in Heaven. We can know of His divine mission in mortality by studying His life in the Holy Bible, and by reading "The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ," which testifies of His mission, His divinity, and the Atonement He performed on behalf of all mankind. He loves each of us more than we could ever comprehend - so much so that He was willing to give His life for us. All He asks is that we do our best to follow Him. Show more Show less
