Hi I'm Eliza

I am a learning enthusiast, an artist, and a volunteer. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Virginia and Pennsylvania, and I love the rich history and beautiful rolling hills of the Eastern United States. As a kid, I was an artist, a diligent students, and a stubborn women's rights proponent. I am studying Public Health at BYU, and I have loved learning how to better serve other people. Right now, though, I am taking a year and a half out of my schooling to serve a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cambodia. The people have won my heart already, and I hope to be of greater service to them!

Why I am a Mormon

I have felt God's love. It is as simple as that. This church has brought me peace when I was afraid; it has given me hope that goodness will persist and that love is the ultimate virtue. I did not always know for sure that this church was true. I have had to fight for this knowledge--it takes a lot of work, faith, and courage to find and live the truth, but it is worth it! After many years of searching and praying and learning about God, I came to a point where I felt like I could trust Him. And that decision, that choice to believe, has brought me so much peace, joy, and understanding--now I am confident that God lives and loves us, because I have experienced His mercy and love for myself. God is good; He is full of knowledge and honesty and kindness, and He loves us. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, so that we could change and become better. I am so grateful for this gospel.

How I live my faith

Right now, I am preparing to serve a mission for the church. On a mission we do humanitarian service, strive to lift others up, teach people about God, and devote our lives to Him. It is a big sacrifice and the work is hard sometimes, but I can feel God helping me as I work.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon means that I have promised to do my best to do what is right. Sometimes this is hard, but it often brings joy! Being a Mormon means serving others with a strength you didn't know you had; it means putting away your hatred and learning to love as Christ loved us; it means striving to do better every day. But it also means that God will help you and strengthen you to do all these things! Show more Show less
