Hi I'm Spencer Hood

I've grown up all of my life in Utah in a great family of seven. I'm a Mormon and I love it and live it.

About Me

I am a currently a College Freshman. I come from a family of two other brothers and sisters and two great parents. I enjoy playing music- Guitar, Piano, Violin- and love to run, bike, or do anything active.

Why I am a Mormon

The reason I continue to be active in this faith, is this: The daily strength that comes from reading and applying the teachings of the prophets and scriptures, and the reassurance from the Holy Ghost that this is right before God. This church is the only church that believes in modern-day revelation from God. I believe this is true. Throughout time, there have been periods where the true church of God has been on the earth, and times where it has been taken from the earth because of the disbelief and wickedness of men. Truth is truth, and God never changes. The pattern of the gospel being taken and later restored has been repeated many times- Adam, Noah, Abraham, Moses, etc. and the last a final time through Joseph Smith. The Book of Mormon is such powerful evidence of Joseph Smith being a true prophet of God. No man could have written that book. If you don't believe me, or are skeptical, judge for yourself. The Book of Mormon and the Bible support each other; The Book of Mormon is another witness and testimony the Jesus Christ is our Savior. Read it! Everyone can know this for themselves if they read the Book of Mormon and ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Jesus Chirst- praying to God to know if this is true and right before God.

How I live my faith

Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is not an effortless pursuit- It is definitely an integral part of my life. Every Sunday I attend church where I am able to participate in partaking of the sacrament in remembrance of the Savior, as well as listen to others teach and talk about their experiences and faith in God. The most important meeting every Sunday is this Sacrament meeting, but their are also other Sunday school classes where we can learn, teach, and talk together. I also have the opportunity and responsibility to watch over two families in our church, and meet with them monthly to see that they are doing ok and things are going well in their family. This is what we call home teaching. (Home teaching for the guys; Visiting teaching for the girls) Most members have similar callings and responsibilities, and it is a great way to be sure everyone is taken care of. Aside from Church I read from the scriptures- The Bible, Book of Mormon, Doctrine & Covenants, and Pearl of Great Price- dialy. I pray daily as well, and I have a personal relationship with Heavenly Father and Jesus Chirst. I strive to live what I learn: the teachings and doctrines of our Church- because I really do believe it brings me peace and happiness, and is truly the only real way we can always be happy. I am just about to leave to go serve a mission for my church, and I am do this because I want to share what I have been given, through this gospel, to others who have never heard about the LDS faith. There are so many other ways the Church allows us to serve others and live the teachings. There are many callings members recieve in church where they are called to be teachers, leaders, or give service to others. It really does allow us all to develop Christlike Attributes and learn to be as he is.
