Hi I'm Cory

I grew up in a small town in Kansas and currently attend BYU-Idaho. I am studying Early Childhood Special Education.

About Me

My name is Cory, and I grew up in a small town in Kansas. I spent two years of my life serving a mission in the Arizona Phoenix Mission, Spanish speaking, where I learned a lot about myself, others, and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am currently living in Rexburg, Idaho, where I attend Brigham Young University - Idaho. I study Early Childhood Special Education, and hope to be a teacher and educational administrator someday. I love to read, hike, camp, and be with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because through scripture study and prayer, the Holy Ghost, which is the teacher of the Gospel (John 14:26) has testified to me of the eternal truths contained in the Old Testament, the New Testament, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great price. It has also testified to me of the eternal truths contained in the words of the living Prophets and Apostles that guide the church of Jesus Christ on the earth, under the direction of Jesus Christ, who is the "chief corner stone."

How I live my faith

I try and live my life in accordance with the Savior's teachings. I do this by learning more about the Gospel and applying it in my life. In the past I have been a Sunday School teacher for the teenagers in my ward (congregation), a Weblos leader (Cub scouts), and a Boy Scout leader. I have also served a mission for the Lord in the Arizona Phoenix Mission, Spanish speaking. Currently I am once again a teacher. Teaching is one of my favorite things to do, it helps be to delve deeply into the scriptures and to share it with others. Often I find that when I teach a lesson, I learn much more then I am sure many of the members of the congregation do.

Mormons believe Jesus Christ is their Savior. Why do we need a Savior?

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ is our Savior because as imperfect beings it would impossible for us to become clean from our sins without Him. Christ, by suffering for our sins and dying on the cross, made it possible for all of the sons and daughters of our Heavenly Father to become better, holier, and more pure than they would be otherwise. Also, because Christ broke the bands of death and rose from the dead on the third day with a perfect and immortal body, all of us will be resurrected as well. Thus we can see that through our Savior Jesus Christ we can become free from the effects of spiritual death (sin) and physical death. If it were not for the Atonement of Jesus Christ, we would be unable to overcome the effects of spiritual death and physical death, and returning to live with our Father in Heaven would not be possible because we would not be able to be in His presence.
