Hi I'm Hayden

I grew up in Utah. I'm a missionary. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a fun loving young guy. I am serving a mission and I have been out for just over a month. I enjoy music and drama, and serving others.

Why I am a Mormon

One thing that some people have asked me, is how can one be so converted to a gospel that they have lived their whole life. They say that since I grew up with it I haven't truly had a moment of conversion, that our principles were spoon fed to me. Some have even used the term "brain-washed". I promise you I'm not. Hahaha! What I say to these questions is that even though I was raised in the church, I still had moments where I have had to ask my Father in Heaven for a conversion moment. I come from a pretty spiritually diverse family, and even though the majority of us are Mormon, the activity of my family members vary. I have also been blessed with hardship, even though hardship stinks, as it's supposed to. It is during these trials I have asked God, that if He is truly up there, if he could make it known unto me that He is. I know He does because He has made it known unto me. I have felt His love, I have felt the confirmation from the Spirit. I have prayed for confirmation that Joseph Smith was a prophet, that he did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I know that he was, and that he saw the Father and the Son. I know that we have prophets of God in these latter days and I sustain our prophet today, Tomas S. Monson. I am only one voice of many, but it is my prayer that you, the interested Investigator, will feel the Spirit, and that our words will inspire you to ask our Heavenly Father in faith and the name of Jesus Christ, if this church is true. I promise you that you will receive an answer. I say these things in the name of the most high and beloved son, Jesus Christ, amen.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving an LDS (Mormon) mission for two years. I have been preparing for this for most of my life, and it has been a deep desire of mine to serve. I have been very involved in the church and have had plenty youth callings.

Why do Mormons perform baptisms for the dead?

In relation to other faiths, ours is fairly young. All the members of the chuch have ancestors that have lived before or without knowledge of the restored gospel, which means that they unfortunately passed on with out essential sacred ordinances. That is why we, their posterity, perform Baptisms and other ordinances by proxy, so that these past souls can recieve the ordinances needed to return to our Father in Heaven. Show more Show less

Why is authority to perform a baptism important?

When Jesus Christ was on the earth, he called Apostles. He gave these Apostles the Priesthood (the power and authority from God) to administer unto the people in His name. After Christ's crucifiction, there began to be an apostasy (when the people reject the prophets and the Gospel of Jesus Christ) and Christ's Apostles, who had the Priesthood authority to preach and perform sacred ordinances, the authority to baptize being one of them, were killed off that authority left the Earth. This is called the Great Apostasy. Now, through the Restoration of His Gospel, God restored that authority to Joseph Smith. This authority is what makes sacred ordinances valid. For an example, say there is an Ice Cream truck driver who may know much of traffic law, and he sees you going 15 over the speed limit down the road. Could he pull you over and give you a ticket? He cannot, because he does not have the authority to do so. This is the same with Baptism, if someone does not have that Priesthood authority given by God they cannot perform the ordinance. What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Missionaries are representatives of Jesus Christ. It is our duty and privelage to serve Him in this manner. All of our lessons are centered on the Lord and his gospel. Missionaries will teach you about the restoration of the true Gospel and its importance in your life. It is our purpose to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Every missionary that knocks on a door does it with the honest and loving intention of bringing that person or that family unto the Savior, that they might recieve the blessings of eternal life.
