Hi I'm Melissa

I grew up in Dallas Texas. I've studied math and Chinese. I write Science fiction, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I live in Texas but go to school in Utah, where I study math and Chinese. My favorite things to do are write stories and learn languages. I write mostly science fiction and fantasy. In the past, I've studied French and Chinese, and a little bit of Spanish, and recently I've started learning Korean.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born to parents who were Mormon and baptized when I was eight years old. Growing up within the church, I took it for granted, but since I've become an adult I've realized how much the church has blessed my life. Because I live the standards of the church, I don't have to worry that I will have children outside of marriage. I don't have to worry that I'll become addicted to alcohol or cigarettes, or make stupid decisions under the influence of mind altering substances. At times when I am better at doing what the church says I should, I feel happier. The church gives me a sense of direction and a sense of peace that I can't get from anything else. My faith that the church is true gives my life a higher purpose, because I know that God loves me and wants me to choose the right so that I can be with Him after I die. He cares about the choices I make, and He knows all the challenges I face. I'm very grateful for this knowledge.

How I live my faith

I come to church every Sunday. Recently, I haven't had any special calling, but in the past I've printed out programs for my congregation. I’ve helped to teach a Sunday school class for the little children one week. I have also taught Sunday lessons for the church's women's organization.
