Hi I'm Julia

I am from Virginia. I am a student studying English Teaching. I am a daughter and a sister. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a college student studying English Teaching. I love basketball and working out. I like listening to all types of music, everywhere and all the time. I love shopping, cooking, crafts, and taking pictures. I enjoy facebook and other social media. I am a purple fanatic. I love spending time with friends and family more than anything.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Even though I was born into this faith, I have had my own personal conversion and know of its truthfulness on the earth today. I was raised in a community where there were not a lot of mormons. In high school I was often questioned about the church and pressured to change my standards. This to me was the biggest test of faith as I had to stick up for what I believed in. Along with this I read the Book of Mormon. When I finished I knelt down and prayed to Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ to know if this church was true. At that moment I experienced a warm feeling and I could feel the Savior all around me. I felt in my heart that this was the only true church and since then I have never once doubted that feeling. I could not imagine my life without the gospel. I am Mormon because I feel the blessings and the love my Savior has for me every Sunday and everyday I choose the right and try to be more like him.

How I live my faith

I am blessed to be apart of such an amazing church where I can actively live my faith everyday. I go to church every sunday and I currently help others prepare for emergencies if they may arise. This includes creating 72-hour kits and creating a plan in case of an emergency. I also love participating in activities my are puts on. I also love to attend additional meetings where often there are speakers that discuss religious topics that help strengthen my faith. I also attend religious classes during the week-one focusing on the Book of Mormon and one preparing me to serve a mission for the church to help spread the gospel to others all around the world. I believe the biggest way I exercise my faith is through daily scripture reading and prayer and being an active participant in my church community. I also keep my standards high and be the best I can be.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

Julia
God gave us our bodies and just as we would take care of something we borrowed we need to take care of our bodies. We need to give our bodies proper nourishment by giving it healthy foods. We do not partake of any harmful substances such as drugs, alcohol, coffee, tea or tobacco as they can harm our bodies and our spirits. The word of wisdom is a blessing in my eyes as it helps me take care and protect my body. Show more Show less

What is being a Mormon like?

Julia
Often people view Mormons as "different" or "weird', but really we are just people like everyone else, trying to better ourselves. Being Mormon truly is a lifestyle. I go to church every sunday and attend other church classes throughout the week. I say my prayers twice a day. I choose to be modest in my clothing. I do not drink, partake of harmful substances or swear. I try to love and serve everyone around me. I try and do my best to do as the Savior would have me do. Show more Show less
