Hi I'm Shawn

I'm a transplant to Atlanta from Iowa, and I grew up in Utah. I don't want to have regrets when my time is up. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm currently working and living in Georgia. While I am not native to the south, I do love southern culture and have increased my ability to throw "Y'all" into a sentence without thinking twice about it. I love to golf, ski (water and snow), ride horses, play the piano, play racquetball, and read insightful books. I've been married for five years and have a cute little girl with curly hair who looks like Shirley Temple, a little boy who communicates amazingly well for not being able to talk, and a little girl on the way. We love being together. Family time is our favorite time. Often, when I tell people that we're on our third child, and when they hear that they are around 2 years apart, they act like they are shocked that someone would have that many kids. Truthfully, I'm shocked that they wouldn't. Sure it takes work, but the work doesn't even come close to the rewards, and I'm grateful every day that those rewards can continue on forever.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I've felt the Holy Spirit tell me that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is Christ's true and living church, and the gospel taught therein is the gospel of Jesus Christ taught in its fulness. It really comes down to that. I've received revelation telling me it's true, and it holds the authority to administer ordinances which are necessary for us to return to Heavenly Father. I know everyone has the opportunity to know this if they want it. Christ lives. He loves us. He wants us to live His plan so we can return to live with Him. We all lived with Heavenly Father before we came here--that was our home. When I'm striving to be like Him and serving in His Church, I feel closer to that home than at any other time.

How I live my faith

I love being a home teacher. Each month I check up on two other families in our congregation and share a spiritual thought with them. When they need help, I look for ways to jump in. I hope that the people I home teach trust me, look forward to my visits, and know of my testimony and love for the Savior. I love this assignment because it helps me get to know these families better and love them more. It gives me an opportunity to serve, and I'm amazed at the blessings the Lord pours out upon me when I do what I've been asked to do. I also live my faith by putting my wife and kids before myself. When I jump at opportunities to make them happy or serve them, I'm not only helping create a happy home, but I'm doing what the Lord wants, and that is satisfying to me.
