Hi I'm Colleen

I'm a wife, mom, daughter, sister and friend. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in the south 'burbs of Chicago and now reside in Ohio. I'm about to turn 28. I have 2 daughters ages 2 1/2 and 15 months, our 3rd daughter will be joining us any day! In my "spare" time, I LOVE to cook for people. I also love arts and crafts (simple stuff with items from around the house).

Why I am a Mormon

I knew I was close with God before I joined the church, but I didn't feel that any church I had ever attended brought me closer to Him or even helped me strive to become a better person/wife/mom. After coming to a women's meeting with my Mom-in-law and talking to some other in-laws that my husband and I admire (members of the Church), I began to want to investigate further. We met with the Missionaries in our area for several weeks and I prayed and prayed and prayed to know if the Church of Jesus Christ was true and if the Book of Mormon was true. My parents were not very supportive and I received a lot of opposition. At first, it was hard to overcome, but I kept praying to Heavenly Father for the answers and to know what was true. While praying one day, I felt a calmness come over me and I just knew that I should continue meeting with the Missionaries, keep learning, that I was going in the right direction! Everything was going to be alright, and Heavenly Father was taking care of me. I knew there was going to be more opposition for me to face in the future, but I felt very confident that I was in the right place. As time has gone by, my faith is strengthened each time I face opposition and I KNOW deep down in my heart and soul that this is the true church and I am in the right place doing the right things! When I got baptized and confirmed, it was one of the most spiritual times of my life. I've never felt the Holy Ghost stronger than those times. I'm so glad I was lead to this church. It is strengthening my life, my marriage and my family every day.

How I live my faith

Since I am so new with the Church, most of how I live my faith is done in our home. I pray with my husband and children several times daily. Currently, my husband and I are reading the Book of Mormon together every night before we go to bed. It helps bring closure to our day, gives us quality time together and keeps the Gospel in our lives. I read some children's Gospel stories to my girls on a regular basis as well. My family and I go to any events the church has going on that we can attend; we love the family and Gospel centered environment that is created and enjoy the fellowship.
