Hi I'm Nedra

I am a mother of six children, and a grandmother of twenty-one. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love the outdoors, especially hiking narrows and slot canyons. I am an artisan and own a souvenir company. The thing that brings me the most joy is being with my family. We enjoy camping together, birthday parties, board games and anything with 'ball' at the end of it! Although raising a family according to gospel standards was (and still is!) challenging, I have reaped many deeply satisfying rewards through faithful living. I am healthy, happy, and will soon be leaving on a mission to Australia.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have tried it...and I like it! Having a living prophet and the gift of the Holy Ghost provides me with truth to base my life on, not just guessing or the latest trends. Why do I choose to live the gospel the best I can? It is because I have learned, by experience, that the consequences of living the gospel are happiness, joy and satisfaction. I have lived it and love it!

How I live my faith

I am so glad that it is simple to live the gospel! Talking to Heavenly Father in prayer often, reading His word in scripture, loving, repenting, forgiving and serving give me joy and bring me closer to God. One important way I live my faith is caring for four ladies I live around. I visit with them often and teach them about the gospel of Jesus Christ. These women are very different from me, and it enlarges my soul to grow with them and love their families and be their friend through blessings and trials. I also teach the 16-18 year-old youth in Sunday School. I ponder and pray and study to be able to invite the spirit of the Lord into our classroom. We have learned much together, and I admire the strength of youth in the world today. One other thing I do is organize sporting events for our area. Church sports are a vehicle to meet others, take care of our physical bodies, learn skills, develop patience and have fun!

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

The beautiful doctrine of the Atonement can be difficult to understand, but it is the purpose for which Christ came into the world. When we are born into earth life, we are physically separated from God. Because of Christ's victory over death, He paved the way for all mankind to overcome the separation of body and spirit so they would also be resurrected. As mortal men and women, we remove ourselves further from God when we sin. This is a spiritual separation or death. God is pure and holy, and all that dwell with Him must be cleansed from sin. Men cannot do this for themselves, and God provided a great sacrifice, His Beloved Son, to bear the burden of the sins of all men. In the Garden of Gethsemane, Christ suffered and paid the price to redeem our souls from an endless separation from God. Only Jesus Christ, a pure, willing sacrifice could stand in as proxy for mankind. To activate the atonement in our lives, we must also pay a certain price: we must offer up a 'broken heart and a contrite spirit'. This means we will have faith in Him, change through repentance and follow His example by being baptized as he was. We need to try to be like Him and follow his commandments throughout the rest of our lives. Doing this puts us in a position to receive exaltation, and live with Him forever. Because of this great plan and redeeming sacrifice we can understand that Christ and the Father desire to be with us eternally. Show more Show less
