Hi I'm Ryan P.

I love to sing. I love to laugh and be with my family and friends. I'm going on a mission. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Utah all of my life so I love it when I can leave the "bubble" of Utah and experience other parts of the world, but I've only traveled in the United States. I currently am going to the University of Utah and plan on going into law. I am fascinated by history and what can be learned from the past, but also really enjoy business stuff. I also love to sing and was a member of my high school elite choir. Also in high school, I ran track and cross-country. My dad is an avid runner and has continually tried to convert me to running. As of now, it isn't working for him, but I love him anyway. I love reading! I'm still one of those people who are trying to hold onto actual books.

Why I am a Mormon

I've grown up in the Church. It has always been part of my life. The gospel of Jesus Christ has shaped me who I am today. From it, I have learned that I am never alone. There have been times when I have felt that no one cares or that I mean nothing to anyone, even to myself. But what I have discovered through experiences with friends and in my own personal life is that I matter to my Heavenly Father. He knows who I am and will never leave me alone; no matter how often or how bad I may mess up. I also know that Christ is there. He is my Savior, Redeemer, support, and friend. He knows what I have been through and knows how to help me. I know that we never go anywhere alone. I have been so richly blessed and am thankful for it.

How I live my faith

I always try to do what is right. I have been taught to always try my hardest and to always do my best. In any leadership role that I am assigned, I always make sure that it is my best work and that I put forward my best effort. I am by far from perfect but as long as I know I always did my best, I happy with it. I've been a leader in my ward through leading fellow youth, and also helping my dad move people in our area even if they aren't members of the Church. I want to make others feel comfortable and that they have a friend that they can rely on to help move, to hang out with, or to talk to.

What blessings can you receive from reading the Book of Mormon, the Bible, and other scriptures?

Ryan P.
You become a better person. True, it can be boring at times. But when you actively read from the scriptures and apply the stories to your own life, you want to take actions to change and to become a better person. You also are less easy to be angered and you just feel better. Show more Show less

Why do Mormon missionaries proselyte?

Ryan P.
Mormon missionaries are called to go and preach the gospel to all people so that they may know that the Truth is restored and that God lives. They are to bring others to the fulness of the gospel so that their lives may be blessed. Show more Show less

Do Mormons only help Mormons?

Ryan P.
Nope! We help everyone who needs help. I've helped my dad move people who aren't members of the Church so many times. Christ helped everyone, not just those who followed him and we must do the same. We read in Mosiah 19:9 to "mourn with those that mourn." and to "comfort those that stand in need of comfort." That is for all humankind, not just those who have joined the Church. Show more Show less
