Hi I'm Kelsey

I am 5'4", quirky, and uncoordinated. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in Tennessee. And I sadly, don't have a Southern accent. I love to be outdoors. I have recently gained the love to hike. I love being with my family, which in turn leads me to love sports. I love football, basketball, and pretty much any other sport. I may not be that coordinated, but I'm always up for a game. I studied at BYU-Idaho before my mission and am going into Social Work. I want to be able to help children to learn and grow in a healthy environment. I am a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I chose to serve a mission because I know that happiness I have in my life comes from the restored Gospel of Jesus Christ. I love the joy that can come into someone's life when they hear the word of the Lord. So I am here to share it with others! I am currently serving in the Arizona Scottsdale mission.

Why I am a Mormon

We all come to a point in our lives where we have to decide for ourselves. You can only lean on others' testimonies for so long. I came to this point when I was 16. I realized that my life wasn't going in the direction that I wanted it to be going. I decided to pick up my scriptures to search for my answer. And I found it. Heavenly Father is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He has provided a way that I can return and live with my family again. And that means more to me than anything else. I recently lost my grandpa and couldn't return to say my one last goodbye. Being away from my family at this time was the hardest thing I've ever had to do, but I wasn't alone. My Savior, Jesus Christ, was with me. He was there to help me along the way. I am a Mormon because I know how much my Heavenly Father loves me and all of his children.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by serving the Lord. I may not be perfect, but I do try my best. As I am able to serve others, I am able to see happiness in any circumstance. I thrive on seeing others happy. I try every day to be able to see people how Christ would see them. Not as they are now, but what they can become. It helps me to put off the natural man in me, who wants to judge others. I keep trying and even though I'm not perfect I have Christ who is. I am able to be the best that I can through him and his Atonement, his sacrifice that he made for each of us.

What is being a Mormon like?

Being a Mormon is being like any other person! We live the normal lives that people of other faiths live. Reading my scriptures, praying, and attending church help me stay strong in my faith. These things bring me peace in this world that gets more chaotic every day. Christ himself said, "Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid."(John 14:27) That peace that he talks of can be found in daily prayer and scripture reading. It's through the Gospel of Jesus Christ that peace can be found. Show more Show less
