Hi I'm Tyler

I'm a college student. I'm an outdoor enthusiast. I love helping people. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I am currently attending college with the goal of entering the medical field. I truly enjoy serving and helping other people. I love the outdoors anything from hiking and camping to mountain biking and rock climbing. I loving being in nature surrounded by the beauties my Heavenly Father has created for each of us.

Why I am a Mormon

My first thought as to why I am a Mormon is because I was born into a Mormon family. However, the more I think about it the deeper it is. Yes, I am a Mormon because that is what my parents taught me as a child, that is initially why I became a Mormon. Yet, I continue to be a Mormon because it has become real to me. As a child I went to church and said my prayers because that is what my mom and dad wanted me to do. As I have gotten older my motivation has shifted from striving to please my parents to I do this because I want to do it...for me! I continue to live as a Mormon because it has become real to me. I have seen how living the Gospel of Jesus Christ has improved my life. I have read from and studied the scriptures which have helped me discover how the Savior wants me to live.

How I live my faith

I have always strove to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I recently returned from a two year mission to Los Angeles California where I did my best to live each day as Christ would live. I was able to serve and help others come to a deeper knowledge of our Savior Jesus Christ. The incredible thing to me is that as we serve and help other people we learn a tremendous amount about ourselves. Today I strive to live my faith by doing my best to remember Jesus Christ. The more I learn about the Grace of Christ the greater my ability to live as He would have me live becomes. I am always amazed at the "math" of the Lord. In the world the tendency is the more you give the less you have. Gods math is different, He says the more you give the more your receive. I have seen this principle many times in my life. The more I do to remember Christ the more strength I receive to do good. I live my faith by praying for guidance, studying the scriptures seeking revelation, attend church to be lifted and to lift others. Ultimately I do all these things to help me remember my Savior, Jesus Christ, and His sacrifice for me.

What is the Atonement of Jesus Christ? Why was it necessary for Jesus Christ to sacrifice His life?

To me the Atonement is what gives me the ability to be clean. I am able to repent of sins and mistakes I make. More than that it is what strengthens me to be able to accomplish the Lords work with my family. The Atonement is what strengthens me and enables me to find the balance in my life between family, work, school and church. Show more Show less

Why are Mormons asked to donate 10% of their income to their Church?

Donating 10% of our income to the church is known as tithing. I have payed tithing throughout my life, but as a child I didn't fully comprehend it. In the more recent years as I have got married and began a family of my own I have had a difficult time sometimes to donate my tithing. Looking at our family budget there has not been room for all our expenses and our tithing as well. However, my wife and I have been committed to paying our tithing and have been blessed immensely!! There is ALWAYS enough to cover our expenses and more. It is incredible to see how the Lord opens doors for additional income as we are obedient to this commandment. Show more Show less
