Hi I'm Amelia

I'm a piano playing wife and mother. I grew up in a tiny Ohio town and am a Mormon.

About Me

Growing up in rural Ohio, I didn't seem like an Air Force kid but I was. My parents joined our church while they were young and married in Mississippi. I grew up surrounded by cornfields, and had all the joys of country life, bike riding down to the river to swim and exploring abandoned farm houses. My main hobby throughout my life has been music. I have taught piano now since I was 15 and I also enjoy painting and oil pastels. I taught myself to crochet and knit and enjoy making hats and toys for my 3 kids and all my 4 sisters children. My husband teaches 5th grade and he is an awesome guy. I have 2 daughters and a son (who weighed over 12 pounds when he was born, yes that is one big lifetime accomplishment.) I started running over a year ago. I'm working towards a half marathon this fall. My ego wanted me to go for the full marathon but my over 30 body didn't agree. Maybe next year! We live pretty simply here in Ohio and I feel blessed that my husband and I have the situation where we can spend so much time home with our children.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because after praying I received a testimony of the Savior and that the Book of Mormon is true. Every time I read the Book of Mormon, I feel the spirit of it. I feel there is no way a man could have made that up. I feel the spirit witness of it's truthfullness. I also am not a perfected person and have had sins to resolve in my life. Through the gospel I have felt cleansed from sin, and have felt the darkness of sin and the light of Christ's redeeming power. It is a wonderful blessing. I can feel the power of all the blessings of the gospel in my life, my family is united very strongly, and my 4 sisters and 1 brother are all very close and our families have the common faith which brings us all together with our parents. My husband and children are the focus of my life and what I feel really matters in this world. The world can teach you that money, or property, or fame or career success is all that matters. I have the knowledge that , no, it's not about your house, or your car, or your vacation. It is about my personal relationship with my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ that matter. It gives me a sense of peace and calm.

How I live my faith

Church has been a big part of our lives and we love it. We live about 5 minutes from our church building, and my husband works with the teenage boys in our church. I play piano for the kids every Sunday, as well as the girls who are 8-11 years old. Our congregation is pretty small and close knit. I have wonderful friends from church and we spend time together with our kids or helping each other out. We made a guitar trio and that was a good time. Really, though it's less about what happens on Sunday for us, and more about how we live our faith at home. We really try to focus on our kids, and serve and spend time with our extended family. I don't know where I'd be without the knowledge and guidance I have from the Gospel. I really love the Church, I love my Savior, and I feel we are on a great path for us.
