Hi I'm Mandy

I'm a mom, I served as a missionary in Italy, I'm a children's music teacher, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I have spent most of my life surrounded with children because I think they are so much fun. I graduated from college to be an elementary teacher but could not find a job because of the economy. So I spent a couple of years as a substitute and tutor in which time I got married to a wonderful man. I soon was asked to be the music director for the Primary (or the children) at church to teach them songs about the gospel. I love teaching the children songs about Jesus, faith, scriptures, and prophets. We have a lot fun while learning important principles. I recently became a mom to a very happy little boy and am absolutely loving that. I stay at home while my husband goes to school and works part-time. We may not have a lot of things the world may feel are necessary, but we have what we need and I know it is more important for me to stay home with my baby and teach him than to make money.

Why I am a Mormon

I "grew up" in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, meaning my parents were members, my grandparents were members, etc. So at first, I was a member because I was taught. However, as a teenager, I decided I needed to know for myself if this really was the true church. So I prayed and read my scriptures, and prayed some more. It took a few days, but I did receive my answer. I felt very strongly in my heart that everything I had been taught was true and that this church was the true church. The spirit also recalled to my mind all of the times in my life up to that point when I had felt the spirit tell me that what I was learning or doing was true and right. It was almost as if He were telling me that I already knew that this was the true church. However, I needed that confirmation at that time and ever since then, I have never doubted. I do know that Joseph Smith was a prophet who was called by God to find and translate the Book of Mormon. I know that the Book of Mormon is a true book of scripture. I know Joseph Smith restored the true gospel of Jesus Christ back to the earth just as it was when Jesus Christ was physically on the earth. I know President Monson is now the true and living prophet. And most importantly, I know that Jesus Christ is my Savior and that if I do my very best and repent, through Him, when I do wrong, then His grace will save me so that I can live with God again. I know that God is my Heavenly Father who loves me so much more than I can comprehend. And I love both my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ and I want them to proud of the life I live on earth.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping God's commandments and trying to do the little things everyday, such as praying and reading the scriptures. I try to be a good mother by spending time with my baby and teaching him about the world around him. I also sing many of the Primary songs to my baby to teach him about Jesus and who he is. Every night before I put him to bed, I sing a song called "I am a Child of God." If everyone in the world really understood what it means to literally be the offspring of God, then we would have love and peace. I want my child to grow up knowing exactly who he is and what he stands for.
