Hi I'm Gilmarie Hernandez

I was born in Puerto Rico, a missionary in Arcadia California and Im a mormon...

About Me

I am a cosmetologist and graduated from a Paul Mitchell school in Rexburg, Idaho. I really love music and "dancing". Although I'm not very good at it. I entered the MTC on December 19 and will be serving in the California Arcadia Spanish speaking mission. I love to travel and visit new places. One of my goals is to visit all 50 states. I have about half to go. My best friend and I are obsessed with Korean music, well Korean everything even though we don't understand the language. I love cooking and baking! I want to go back to school after my mission for either culinary or special effects makeup. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention how much i LOVE makeup! That too is an obsession of mine! I have 3 younger sisters, a mom, a step dad and a new little brother from my dad and my step mom! And I love my life.

Why I am a Mormon

Growing up I loved church and being a part of it. As I got older I started to turn away from the church. I got tired of the "rules" that I had to follow. I always picked the wrong friends and the only reason I continued going to church was because I was "forced" to go. After high school and some "not mine" choices, my mom signed me up for cosmetology school in Idaho! While in there I had LDS and non LDS fiends and as always I drifted towards the non LDS. About a year later, I found myself in a hole that I desperately wanted to climb myself out of. I finally realized that I needed to stop being so prideful and ask Heavenly Father to help me climb out. I started to read my scriptures, praying and attending church with my sister on campus. I started to appreciate this gospel and committing myself to know the truths. My sister still is a great example! Another year and a half goes by and im on my mission to California! I've realized, "yeah maybe I could of avoided going down the wrong paths and still have ended up on a mission and avoided all the heartaches and tears but I wouldn't of learned some important life lessons and I wouldn't of known the love I have for this gospel." I KNOW that my Heavenly Father loves me, that we go through all these different journeys to hopefully become the person He had planned for us. I know that the scriptures are true. That they were written for our time and for us to learn from and I leave this in the name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

How I live my faith

I have had my share of callings growing up in the church from music director to nursery. I'm only 22 in a family ward so i haven't gotten any big callings yet... I participate in as much as I can in church activities.

What will the Mormon missionaries talk about when they visit my home?

Gilmarie Hernandez
As a missionary in training, we teach about coming unto Christ. Knowing who Christ trully is and the amazing things He did and still does, accepting Him in our lives and remembering His Atonement for us. And thru His atonement we can, if we follow God's commandments and try our best to be the best us we can be, live with him again. We really try to get to know who you are and teach on the needs you need help on first. We, as missionaries, do love all of our investigators and the reason we go on missions is to share the amazing blessings of God's gospel and what, with faith, can do for you. Show more Show less
