Hi I'm Cainan Shimono

I'm from Hawaii. I'm serving in the Washington DC South Mission. I'm a student at BYU-Idaho. And I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I grew up on the island of Kauai, Hawaii and I have lived there all my life. I have recently finished my third semester at BYU-Idaho; majoring in General Studies for the time being. I am very open to trying new things and I really don't dislike much. I am a very big fan of sports and outdoor activities. Along with these things, a few of my hobbies include: lifting weights and exercising, going on the computer, playing video games, and everything that has to do with the Gospel and the Church. I also really enjoy reading, helping others, and learning new things that could be beneficial to me. Beginning in 2013 I will be serving a two year mission for the Church in Washington DC/Northern Virginia.

Why I am a Mormon

To put it simply, I am a Mormon because it is true! I know, without a doubt, that this Church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is true. It is the only Church on this Earth that contains the fullness of the everlasting Gospel of Jesus Christ that has been lost during the Great Apostasy. This Church is the only Church organized in the same fashion that Christ's Church was organized and it has truly blessed my life for the better. I don't know where I would be if it wasn't for this Church and I am truly blessed to be a member of this Church. It has brought me so much happiness in my life and I believe it can for anyone who is in search of it. The Church is true! The Prophet Joseph Smith is a true Prophet of God, President Thomas S Monson is our living Prophet today and The Book of Mormon is indeed Another Testament of Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

In 3 Nephi 27:27 in the Book of Mormon, Jesus commands His disciples that we must become "even as I am." The way that I live my faith is doing just that. Everyday of my life, I try my hardest to be like my Savior and follow in His footsteps. I try to be the greatest person that I possibly can and I try to live my life in accordance to His teachings and His example. I try to make the right decisions when I am faced with choices and I try to show charity and love for everyone and everything. An example of living my Faith is my decision that I have made to serve a mission. I have been called to labor in the Washington DC South Mission and I believe this to be one of the greatest experiences of my life and one that will help me to live my Faith to the fullest and bless the lives of others.
