Hi I'm Elder Jamison

I'm a Pokemon master, pop culture guru, missionary, and I'm a mormon.

About Me

I was born on January 20th 1994 in Rexburg Idaho. My parents were living there at the time, attending BYU Idaho, where I spent some time before leaving for my mission in Perth, Australia. I grew up mostly in Lake Oswego, Oregon; a city just outside of Portland. I love Oregon, my Dad raised me and my four siblings to love nature. We would go on hikes at Multnomah Falls and Eagle Creek, go camping all around, and ride around on my dad's Harleys. When I was a kid, I loved Pokemon... I still do. Not only that, but all the things that would help my imagination soar; Harry Potter, Star Wars, Marvel movies, all sorts, and music too. I have always just liked having fun. I never like to be too serious. It takes all the joy out of life for me. My siblings and I love rugby, I played wing and fullback on my high school team and have loved learning more about it here in WA. I have also found a love for KFC gravy that I never knew in America. I was born into the church,. This is something I am very grateful for. I do sometime wish I had the same type of conversion story as some of the people I have taught while on my mission, but at the same time I am so happy to have had this knowledge my whole life. My conversion didn't come all at once either, I was 14 when I think I really believed with all my heart that the church was true, and it only came through diligent prayer and scripture study, but that knowledge has blessed me so much!

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I want to be, not because I was born one. I love the confidence the gospel of Jesus Christ gives me and I love Him. Being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ isn't about going to the chapel on Sunday, saying prayers before meals, or singing hymns. It's about taking the challenge to endure to the end, meaning living your life, your whole life, in a way that will transform you into the person God knows you can be. I love the gospel and I love being a missionary.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying the best I can to do what Jesus would do. I don't always do that well. In fact, I slip up every day, but that's what the gospel of Jesus Christ is all about. Because He came to earth and suffered for our sins, we have the opportunity to repent and change who we are. Because he came we have the chance to become as He is. I am thankful for that knowledge and that is why I chose to come here on a mission. Being here in WA has changed my life. Not only do I understand the gospel more, but I love it more too. I still am not perfect, far from it, but I am much happier with the knowledge that I don't have to be yet, all I have to do is my best. By having the broken heart and contrite spirit Jesus asked for, He is able to change us and make up for our faults.
