Hi I'm Joseph

I grew up in Utah. I was born into an L.D.S. family. I was grateful to be born into the church it has blessed my life.

About Me

I am attending College for the fall semester. Then I will be leaving on a mission for 24 months to the Brazil Salvador South mission on March 6th. I love to play football I have played it for several years. I love to play basketball, I have played for a few years. Also I love to play Ultimate frisbee. I played on a club team that never lost a single game and was ranked number one in the nation. I love to fish, hunt and do anything that is outdoors. I love to play chess, board games, and be with other people to talk. I love telling and listening to stories.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Bible teaches that God is an unchangeable being. We learn that He loves all of his children. If God is an unchangeable being wouldn’t we have the same Church of Christ with Disciples, Apostles, and Prophets. Joseph Smith in the year 1820 in New York had many of these questions about the Bible and God especially with religious tension of incurring much religious enthusiasm. One day he was reading and came across James 1:5: “If any of you lack wisdom let him ask of God.” He decided that if anyone needed wisdom he did. As a 14 year old boy he went into the woods and began to offer up the desires of his heart for this knowledge in prayer. He was visited by Heavenly Father and his Son Jesus Christ. One spoke calling him by name saying, "Joseph, this is my beloved Son. Hear him!" I know this story is true. Joseph Smith knew it and I know it, and God knows it; I cannot deny it. I would like to say to whomever is reading this, please read James 1:5 and ask someone who knows about Joseph Smith if they can tell you more about what happened. Next, pray about it. Ask and ye shall receive knock and it shall be opened unto you. I say with all my heart that it is true. I've experienced this change of heart; the change of heart talked about in Alma chapter 5 of the Book of Mormon. We believe in the Bible and Book of Mormon; the Book of Mormon is a necessary second witness of Christ to the world. Pray about it. I did.

How I live my faith

I participated in my community by being a called as a leader to serve and help the boys my age. I was an adviser to the bishop (pastor) of the congregation for the young men my age. I was recently released though as I am preparing to serve a 24 month mission in Brazil. I have always been a home teacher since I was the age of 12. Home teaching is when two men older than 12 get assigned/called to take care of a family usually more than one, within the surrounding community. You visit them every month and you share with them a lesson about Christ or any other teaching. You also don't just take care of that family spiritually, you help them physically. If your home teaching family has to clean their yard you should help them. Not just in cleaning their yard but you should help them in anything they stand in need of.
