Hi I'm deTiare

I grew up in Samoa. I joined the Church when I was 13. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Where do I begin? From the beginning I suppose. I was born in Samoa and raised by my grandparents since my mom had me when she was young. My mom is a powerful example of Faith and Perseverance. My grandparents instilled in me the importance of Religion and Education in one's life. I believe that they were right to do that. Religion: I joined the church when I was 13 and most of my family followed suit a couple of years later. Education: I recently graduated from University; a very big accomplishment in the family. More about myself? I love to read books. I love to sing in a room alone. I love to dance by myself. I like to de-stress by washing the dishes and listening to music on my iPod. I go to Zumba with my mom and then drive the golf-cart for my dad. I enjoy playing certain sports like Netball, Soccer, and Volleyball. I also secretly like to play pool and darts. I am a kid at heart - I am a huge fan of anime particularly Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, and Avatar (Aang & Korra). I enjoy meeting new people and making new friends though I am very forgetful with names. Next step in life: A Mission! I have been called to serve in the Philippines, Cebu Mission. Speaking Cebuano.

Why I am a Mormon

Wow. This is a tough question to answer because there are so many answers. I was originally going to write a long spiel about HOW I joined the church because I'm a convert. And all that stuff but I thought to myself… everyone has their conversion story. Some are more profound than others but all lead to the same goal - belief in Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, and acceptance of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as the restored church of Jesus Christ. The real question is WHY I choose this path for my life. I have looked around in this world of ours and I cannot help but see the devastation and despair in some areas, and frivolous spending and living in others. Ignorance and misunderstanding of the gospel of Jesus Christ span the globe and therein lies the heartache, the sadness, the despair, the wars, the contentions, and the bloodshed. If ALL men were like Jesus Christ, would we face these problems now? For all of man's problems the answer has been and always will be: To Come Unto Christ. And WHY the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? Because in all my searchings, the truth of God is found here and resonates within my heart and mind. I AM a better disciple of Christ than before I joined the Church and therefore a better person because I am a Mormon. I know it. I live it. I love it.

How I live my faith

I am the Young Single Adult Female Representative in my home ward. That basically means I am the Queen Bee of the YSA. YSA means "You're too old to be 'Youth' but too young to be 'Old', so you become a Young Single Adult. Usually this is the 18-30 years category. HaHa. I work with the YSA Male Rep to organize fun activities, uplifting shin-digs, awesome parties, and other enjoyable things to do as a group of friends. I truly do love my YSA. At first it was intimidating to be a leader for the YSA especially because the leaders before were so amazing! But I believe my feet are growing bigger in the figurative 'shoes' that people are supposed to 'fill'. This is NOT because I throw amazing parties but because my friends in the YSA have made me into a better person and therefore a better leader. They have strengthened my testimony of the gospel and of Jesus Christ in so many different ways. One of the significant things about being in YSA is that this age group is the Missionary age group. But what is so amazing about my YSA is that there are currently 14 Missionaries that have come from this YSA. 14 is A LOT from just one ward. I definitely cannot take credit as it mostly has to do with the ward but it is truly amazing to be a part of this marvelous work. I personally know 11 of those missionaries and they have blessed my life immensely by their example to serve missions. I am number 16 on the list and there are others after me who are going on their missions too; Spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ must go forth always. I really am thankful for my calling to be a YSA leader. My next calling - To Be A Missionary! :)
