Hi I'm Doug

I grew up milking cows in Idaho, now work as an executive at a national healthcare technology firm, and I'm a Mormon

About Me

I'm happily married to the most wonderful woman in the world and a father of 4 children whom I treasure. I grew up in Idaho, moved around the West a bit, and landed in Kentuckiana. Whatever successes I've attained in my life I attribute to the work ethic instilled in me by my parents, and to my faith and commitment to live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and its standards. I adore my family and consider spending time with them my favorite thing to do.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church, but when I went on my mission at the age of 19, I realized that I was telling folks that I knew that Christ was my Savior and that we had a prophet on the earth today and that we had the priesthood and continuing revelation, but when I analyzed this circumspectly I wondered if my testimony was deep enough to be making such bold claims. So, I then went on my own personal journey to develop a deep testimony that would allow me to proclaim such things with the sincerity and depth that I wanted to be able to do. I followed the same counsel from the prophet Moroni (in the Book of Mormon) that we asked others to follow - to read the Book of Mormon and to pray and ask God if it was true. In a short period of time I experienced a marvelous manifestation from the Spirit, that changed my life forever. I am so thrilled to be able to proclaim without hesitation that I know that these things are true. So much happiness is found in the Gospel - love of God and neighbor, service to others, love at home, the essence of the eternal family to God's plan of happiness for us, the central role of Jesus Christ as our Savior and his atonement for us, the blessings of being able to hold the priesthood to bless the lives of others, the honor of reverencing the Sabbath Day, and many more. For me, the best part about being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is knowing who I am in this Universe, understanding God's plan for me, knowing where I came from, what I am supposed to be doing on this Earth, and knowing where I can go with my family as I follow my Savior Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I currently serve as the Bishop, or "pastor" of my congregation. I'm an Eagle Scout and have served in many positions within the scouting program in my past. My wife Trina has spent many years teaching children's Sunday School or "Primary" and in other leadership roles. Right now she gets up early every morning to teach early-morning religion classes to our youth every day before school. We truly love serving others. It brings us great joy when we get to see peoples lives change as they more fully live the Gospel of Jesus Christ and abide by His teachings.
