Hi I'm Eric WIllyerd

I am retired, I love turning wood on the lathe, and I love the gospel!

About Me

I retired from the Recreation and Park field after 30 plus years, My wife and I raised 5 children. They now live in 5 different states so we travel, a lot! We will have been married 40 years next year. I enjoy wood work, especially on the lathe. I do a few craft shows each year and I am able to actually sell some of what I create the shows help pay for my supplies. We love to travel to new places, and enjoy doing that by cruise ship especially to places we have not seen or experienced before.

Why I am a Mormon

I chose to be a member of the church because it blesses my life. I was fortunate to be raised in the church by a Mom and Dad who encouraged me to be a caring person, to work hard and built me up to know I could do what ever I wanted. I was raised with 7 other brothers and sisters. I look back on that time together and realized that it was a great life! (yet at the time with few of life experiences behind me, I had no idea how wonderful it was) Over time I realized those experiences together both good and bad, shaped my values and made me who I am today. I am happiest when I am busy doing for others. The church gives me many opportunities to serve in a meaningful way. It also has helped to raise my children with good values and to teach them the same values my parents taught me. The center to my life as a child and to me as a parent has been the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Now that I am retired I have looked back and seen how it all worked out. I have also seen with more knowing eyes how the principles of the Gospel of Jesus Christ shaped my parents, myself and my children and is shaping my grandchildren in a way that brings joy and fulfillment to the time we are on earth. As I read the scriptures and listen to a living Prophet it confirms my testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel and the Plan of Happiness that the Lord so lovingly sacrificed so we may find our way back to him when our life is over. I love the example that Jesus Christ set when he was on the earth as recorded in the New Testament. It has been a good blueprint to follow for how all of us should live. I know this by my own experience, and the experience of those who live it. Its true, and continues to bless my life!

How I live my faith

In the church, I enjoy doing things that help people. Now that I am retired I am blessed that I can still do yard and landscape work, and when some one is in need, I like to help. I also visit people with the missionaries to be with them as they teach them the principles of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I enjoy seeing the light of the gospel come into peoples lives and see the wonderful change it makes. From time to time I teach a class on Sunday, that helps to give my study of the scriptures a focus and direction. I have heard and feel it is true that the teacher learns the most. I visit s few families every month, I am able to share a gospel message and that experience also gives me that learning experience I get when I teach on Sunday.
