Hi I'm Cal

I received my MA from the Univ. of Houston & my Doctorate at the Univ. of Texas. I am a father & husband, I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am first and formost a father of two great daughters & married to my beautiful wife for over 25 years. I am also a two time cancer survivor. I have held various senior management positions in the area of occupational behavioral health focusing on EAP's. Presently I am developing a program associated with a large hospital system in North Carolina. I love to play ice hockey, talk college football, hike and climb 14,000 ft mountains, ski, snow shoe and snorkle in clear warm waters. A long time ago... I was a drummer in rock band. Rush is one of my favorite groups because of the drummer.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the Mormon faith. My mother was Mormon and my father Catholic. My father was very supportive of our faith and encouraged us to attend church because he liked how it supported families, taught morals and strengthened families. As a youth, I also noticed how strong families were in our congregations. I wanted to have families like the ones I saw as well as be as involved in my family as my parents were in my life. My conversion started when I first read the Book of Mormon as a High School student. After reading and praying about its truthfulness, I decided to be the first in my family to serve a 2 year mission for my church. My mission was the best two years of my life inwhich I further developed my testimony in the Savior and my belief that this is his church. Since that time I have served in various leadership callings in the church from leading a congregation as a Bishop for 5 years, to working with youth, to overseeing family history/geneology work and more senior male church members. The Lord's church has been a strength to me in various health trails I have had in my life. I have also seen how people's life's have been changed because of being associated with the Lord's Church.

How I live my faith

In my local congregation I am a counselor that helps our main religious leader administer in the affairs of our congregation. Our congregation is unique inwhich it is made up of single adults between the ages of 18-28. Our services, lessons, and activities focus on the needs that single adults have in our community and country today. We find opportunities for service as well as wholesome socialization.
