Hi I'm McKay

I like to laugh at myself. I'm a Wildland Firefighter. I'm always on the move. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I'm the youngest of six kids in my family and also an uncle to twelve nieces and nephews, however that number keeps getting bigger and bigger. I wrestled in High School and finished my career as a Sate Champion. I work in the summers as a Wildland Firefighter and I'm the youngest on the crew. I like being outdoors and I always have to be active. I seem to function better when I have many things going on at the same time. I like learning new things and being adventurous. Fall is my favorite time of year mostly because of all the change that is happening outside. I always try to set goals for myself and work hard to achieve them. I'm young and I'm not sure what is in store for me in the future, but i am excited to find out! I am also serving a mission in the Nicaragua Managua North Misssion from 2012-2014.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Church in a very active family. Most of my life I had taken the testimonies of those around me as my own. Most of my community was LDS and that's just how it was, its all i knew. As i got into my teenage years I was making decisions that were against the teachings of the Prophet. I wasn't happy for a long time, and i started to wonder if I had a testimony of my own. At this crucial time, i attended an E.F.Y. Conference in Logan, UT. This experience changed my life and helped me develop a testimony of my own. I started listening to the Prophets and Apostles and following their council. I also attended seminary where my testimony grew more and more of the gospel. I wasn't perfect through High School and continued to make mistakes, I had some low points and some high points, but I knew what was true. I read the Book of Mormon for the first time when I was seventeen years old. Reading that book every day made the days easier to handle and I was more happy overall. I know that I am a child of God. I know that Jesus Christ fulfilled his role as savior of the world and that if I repent and come unto him, I will someday return to my Father in Heaven. I love my family so much and I don't know what I would ever do without them. I'm grateful for the knowledge that my family can be together forever. I know that Joseph Smith was a true prophet of God and that he restored the church and translated the Book of Mormon for our day and time. I know that we are in good hands, and that if we endure this life well, we can find peace and rest in the end with our Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by constantly trying to do everything my Heavenly Father wants me to do. I know he wants me to be happy and have joy in my life. Living the gospel requires faith followed by action. I live my faith by acting on things that will bring me joy; things like praying, reading my scriptures, and going to church and other group activities. I also am living my faith by choosing to serve a full time mission for the Savior and Heavenly Father. I report to the Missionary Training Center just a week before my birthday. I'll be serving in Nicaragua in Central America.

What is the priesthood?

The priesthood is the authority to act in God's name. This is the same priesthood that existed when Christ was on the earth. The priesthood is used for performing the ordinances of the church. Ordinances like baptism. The priesthood is also used for blessing those who are sick or afflicted in any way. The church is led and directed through the priesthood authority. Show more Show less
