Hi I'm Anna

I grew up in Utah and have been enjoying different perspective of life in Texas. I am a Mormon.

About Me

The best words to describe my life are: "busy" and "happy." I moved out to Texas from Utah after my husband found work in Lubbock. I finished my college degree in Elementary Education and decided to play "school" with my own children before attempting to handle my own classroom. Days are busy with playing, house-hold chores, taxiing and just "living." After I've attempted to take a bite out of the housework I unwind reading, sewing and other random crafts.

Why I am a Mormon

My grandmother joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, or Mormons as a young women in the 1950's in New York because of the example of some her friends, she wanted to know more. My mom and I both spent our lives growing and actively participating in the Church. I live a sheltered life, mostly by choice, in Utah in community where most of my friends were members. My life started to really open up when I went to a Utah college much different from my previous life. At college I really started to realize why I had to stand for what I believed as I saw so many of my dorm-mates go different directions from what I was raised. I had to stand for the values I knew to be true despite what "everyone else" was doing. My roommates knew I didn't drink, smoke, or go to questionable movies, and respected my choices. I found direction as I went to our small college ward and took religion classes offered for college students at my church building. During college I truly gained a testimony of the Gospel taught is Bible and Book of Mormon. As I studied the words of our Latter-day prophets I also found direction in my confusing college life. Now as a mom of small children I constantly find myself in prayer reading the scriptures to find the answers and direction I need for my crazy happy life. It goes back to the values I learned growing up and to living them today. I know this Church is true. I find direction and testimony everyday as I read (or listen) to the words of prophets in the Bible and Book of Mormon. I also search the words of our Latter-day Prophets. Joseph Smith had a question about which Church to join. Heavenly Father and the Lord Jesus told him that His gospel of ancient day would soon be restored again in full on the Earth with all the keys and ordinances needed. I know the Lord talks to His children today, I often feel him speak to my heart, and I know that he can talk to anyone who will sincerely ask. IT IS TRUE!

How I live my faith

I keep a history for a ward (what we call our local congregation) of what has happened over the year. Somethings include: community activities, youth activities, baptisms, leadership changes, and some unique things our ward has done. I help out in our women's group by making sure each and every "Sister" know another "Sister" is thinking of them and getting some type of monthly contact.

What is being a Mormon like?

Anna
Being a Mormon is very enjoyable, even if it isn't always easy. I've always felt a little different from other people for one reason or another, but I always know that where I go I have the Church. I find friends, hope, love and reassurance. I find direction, joy, purpose and fulfillment in living my life everyday. I know at the end of each day, whether hard or easy, I have a loving Heavenly Father I can talk to about anything. I know he'll answer, not always when and what I expect, but the way a Father does- what will help me become who I need to be. Show more Show less

What is the Relief Society?

Anna
Relief Society is the most amazing program in the world. It brings women of all ages, ethnicities and backgrounds together to learn more about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and celebrate our amazing attributes at daughters of God. Truly, the Lord brought about his work when he organized this program. We are his spiritual daughters he wants us to learn more about him. Show more Show less
