Hi I'm Seth

I'm a writer and poet originally from Chicago and raised in the Midwest. I've been a member since 2003.

About Me

I enjoy writing short fiction and poetry, 35 mm photography, history and reading fiction and poetry. My favorite writers are Kurt Vonnegut, Michael Crichton and F. Scott Fitzgerald. My favorite poets are Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Edgar Allan Poe. I also enjoy Jazz and various rock and alternative music.

Why I am a Mormon

I joined the church in 2003 after years of going to churches but never feeling anything. I would often space out when I went to the other churches even though they had paid preachers. When I went to the Mormon churches, although the speakers weren't always great, I still listened because at the very least they were honest. I also enjoy the structure of the church. No wondering how long a preacher might preach or how many songs or which verses of the song the song leader would conduct. I joined after close to a year of Missionary visits. I read the Holy Bible and could understand it ( I even was able to enjoy Shakespeare more because of reading and understanding the King James Version). And the Book of Mormon gives an interesting insight to history of the Americas among the basic premise being that when the people of The Book of Mormon did right, they thrived. When they strayed from God and Christ, they suffered. Anyways, that's about all I can think of about why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I struggle with my faith and the world but I have discovered a peace and strong belief in the LDS Church. They have answers where other churches did not. I use my church proudly as my rock when the world turns up the stress levels.
