Hi I'm Carolyn

I am an empty-nester, I am employed as a genealogy and local history librarian. I am a life-long Mormon.

About Me

I love living in the South and have done so for many years, although I lived previously in several different states. I am a college graduate and work part-time but really feel Motherhood was my most significant "job". I get a lot of real joy from interaction with my adult children and my grandchildren and wish they lived closer. However, I am content in my life because of my close relationship to my husband. We ride recumbent bikes as often as time permits and I exercise every week day morning. I thought as one grew older life would slow down but I am as busy as I have ever been

Why I am a Mormon

I prefer being called a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints rather than a "Mormon" because it better reflects my love and faith in Jesus Christ. I went through a questioning process during my college years and through study and sincere prayer I learned for myself that Joseph Smith was the Lord's prophet to restore His gospel in these latter-days and that the Book of Mormon is what it claims to be--another witness of Jesus Christ. The Church today is the same as the one Christ organized and gave His authority to act in His name. Because it is His church, the doctrine answers questions in a way that makes sense. Now, many years later, having lived the teachings of this church and having read the Book of Mormon many, many times I have never felt disillusioned. I count my membership in this church and my faith in God as my greatest blessing. I find many members really try to live their religion 24/7 because they too feel this is Christ's restored church. I have had many opportunities to learn and serve in the Church which has helped me be a better wife, Mom, friend and person in general. I am busy and blessed! I have always been grateful for the Church's doctrine and focus on strengthening families. I believe that what is taught in this church provides a great way to live happily even in hard times, and in preparation for eternity, so next year, after I retire, my husband and I hope to serve a mission for at least a year to share our faith with others.

How I live my faith

I have been a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints my entire life and have always been actively involved as a lay member. I am at peace that I did all I could to raise my children with moral and ethical values and that as parents we taught them true doctrine. Even though all my children are grown and have their own homes now, I still find that much of my time is devoted to their welfare and that of my grandchildren. I really like serving others; it doesn't matter if they are members of this church or not. For example, my husband and I have had opportunity to help with hurricane clean-up on several different occasions. I currently team-teach with my husband a New Testament class to college-age adults. I study in the scriptures daily, try to be honest in my dealings with my fellowman and try to do my best so that I may continue to develop my character and my talents. I've learned that following God's commandments keeps life simpler with less problems.
