Hi I'm Shay

I am a Navy wife. I am crafty. I am a mother of two. I am a Mormon

About Me

I love being a wife and mom! I have two beautiful girls. Obtaining an education has always been very important to me, so when I felt prompted to get married at a young age (19) when I met my sweet husband who was in the Navy at the time, I knew Heavenly Father would provide a way for me to finish my schooling if I listened to His promptings for me. Getting married meant moving across the country and shortly after we felt prompted to start our family. Despite fears of not knowing how I could finish my education, I listened again to His promptings for me and was blessed to find a major that would allow me not to jeaprodize being a mom while allowing me to finish my degree in Public Health. I love learning! I love being home with my girls and trying to think of ways to help them find joy in life through simple activities like cooking, playing, exploring, or creating things. I love reading good books that help me expand myself and inspire me to become better. I crave adventures and hope we get to experience different places to live and learn.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this is the true church of Jesus Christ on this earth. I was raised in the LDS church by a mother who strives to be active in it and a father who is inactive. They divorced when I was young and although I went to church and loved my leaders and teachers, it was not until my first year in college when I met my husband that I started to gain a true testimony of the gospel and it's eternal importance for myself. My husband served in the Navy and is a fantastic example to me of sharing my testimony with others and never changing my beliefs for situations or people. The gospel is not part of my life, it is my life. I am so blessed by being a Mormon and developing a relationship with Jesus Christ in every aspect of my life. I want others to feel the same blessings in their life because it can improve every aspect of your life... your marriage, your happiness, your self-esteem, everything! I truly believe that.

How I live my faith

The biggest way that I live my faith at this stage in my life is at home being a mother. The world doesn't always value motherhood for women and I sometimes allow temptations to come into my mind about what else I should be doing in my life, but I always come back to the sweet feeling that I am exactly where I am supposed to be, doing exactly what I am supposed to be doing when I am focusing on being the best mother I can be to my girls. I know it is my responsibility to teach our girls about their Savior, Jesus Christ, and to develop testimonies themselves that will help them to return to their Heavenly Father someday. I have a strong testimony of visiting teaching and how the women in communities and wards can strengthen and serve each other just by taking an interest in one another. I love my visiting teachers because they are women in different stages of motherhood and womanhood than me and I learn a great deal from them from their experiences, testimonies, and love.
