Hi I'm McKenzy

I am a 21 year old college girl that loves to be silly and laugh. I can easily find beauty in anything. And I'm a Mormon.

About Me

My name is McKenzy, but my family and friends call me Kenzy. I am 21 years old and am a Communications major at Brigham Young University- Idaho and I am getting my minor in Photography. My emphasis in school is in Advertising and I want to go into something called Advocate Advertising. Basically, I want to help save the world. That's probably the loftiest goal I have ever had. I want to help create those advertisements that pull at your heart strings and make you want to be a better person. I want to get out there and help others. I want to give them a chance at having as good of a life as I have been blessed with. I've always been this way, but how could I not be? My parents have taught me that service is the best way to show someone love and they have always been shining examples of this. Even my little sister has shown me that compassion is the way to go at all times when times are tough and your aren't feeling your best. If you haven't figured it out yet, my family means the world to me. It's just my parents, my little sister, and I...and our dog Petey and our five chickens. I love nothing more than just chillin' with the fam on a Friday night. It's guaranteed that we are always laughing and cracking jokes. I love to laugh and smile, by the way. It's the best. I can make anyone smile, it's one of my many talents (along with fitting 25+ grapes in my mouth, coming up with the sweetest raps, and impersonating people). That's me in a nutshell!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised Mormon, but that's not why I'm Mormon. My parents have always let my sister and I explore other religions and churches because they believed that it should be our choice to be Mormon. And I am so thankful for that!I have been to synagogues, cathedrals, meditation sessions, and to other worship services yet nothing has ever felt as good as walking into a chapel of an LDS church. Nothing fills me with more joy and warmth. I love this Gospel and I love being a Mormon! Things just make more sense, to me personally , in this Church. I learn something new everyday through this Gospel. Recently, I have come to learn that everything happens for a reason and that the Lord's hand is in everything that we do because He loves us. I know that my Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ love me. I KNOW it. And I know that they love you too. I know that things get tough. Believe me. I've been through the ringer myself, but I know that the Lord would never leave us alone in times of trial. We have been given tools in these latter days that can help us remain close to Him and go back home to live with Him. I believe that this Gospel, this Church has all of those tools, in one place, that are yours for the taking. I hope that by this you will give yourself a chance at a happier and more spiritually fulfilling life. I'm Mormon because I feel more joy spiritually as a member of this Church.

How I live my faith

I am actually preparing to leave to serve a full-time mission for the Church in a couple of days! I have been called to serve in the Berlin, Germany area and I report to the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah on October 31st and I will be gone for a year and a half. I am very excited to have the opportunity to pattern my life directly after the Savior's and serve others at all hours of the day!

What is being a Mormon like?

McKenzy
Being a Mormon is great! But I promise you that it's no different then being a non-Mormon. Being a Mormon is just more. It's more knowledge that you have on how you should live your life to keep you mentally and physically healthy. It's more understanding on life after death and how important families can be. It's more joy in every day life. We are here to have joy. That's one of our purposes to be on the earth. The greatest way we can have that joy is through keeping God's commandments, doing what's right, serving others, and knowing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It's centering your life on the good. Which is exactly what this religion focuses on- finding that joy. So see? Being a Mormon is great! Show more Show less
