Hi I'm Sister Maynez

Hi I'm Edith. Im Mexican. I am a college student, a future LDS missionary, a healthy lifestyle advocate. I am a Mormon.

About Me

I was born into a loud Mexican family. I love my culture and I love my family. I have two amazing parents, three brothers, and two sisters and yes we have owned chihuahua's. I came to the states when I was relatively young and found the transition to a new country quite difficult, especially the English language. Yet, there is something that has always been the same wherever I am, and that is the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I carry out a simple life. I grew up in the LDS church, graduated High School, am going to college, and have now accepted my desire to serve as an LDS missionary. I have been told that I am odd for my age group. I love to go to bed before time reaches double digits and love to arise along with the sun. I love to be around kids and the elderly. I am a strong believer of the saying, "You are what you eat." So, I love to be good to my body and eat things that I can pronounce and that don't come from a factory. I enjoy being active and I enjoy being with family more than anything. Men are that they might have joy, and I strive for that joy!

Why I am a Mormon

Although I have been blessed to carry out a simple and calm life, I have had my fair share of trials that have brought me down to the depths of despair and guilt. My faith though in the Atonement of Christ and the fullness of His restored Gospel have kept me looking at the bright light in the end of the life's many dark tunnel's. I am a Mormon because I want the most that this life has to offer. I want to experience pure and real life, a life of integrity and inner peace towards man, myself, and our Creator. Being LDS gives me the opportunity to strive for the best as I look forward to challenges. Through this faith I know that I can be molded towards the best version of myself. There is no greater joy that I have felt than the joy of God's love and influence in my life. I am a Mormon because I know that the fully restored Gospel of Jesus Christ is here on the earth, and being Mormon is the road towards living and breathing this restored Gospel.

How I live my faith

I life my faith by first understanding that I am not perfect in any way. I make mistakes all the time, every day in fact. Yet, I have faith that my best efforts are enough for my Father in Heaven. I live my faith through action. As humans we have the choice to be, say, and think whatever way we please to. I strive to be less empathetic towards life and its many blessings. I live my faith through action and thought. I think that the bottom line here is the honest belief that serving others is the ultimate way to live my faith.

What is the Relief Society?

Sister Maynez
Relief Society to me means so much more than were woman join together to have a "pow wow" hour. I say this because when I was younger this is how I viewed Relief Society to some degree. With maturity and learning I now have the knowledge and testimony that this organization of woman was inspired by our Father in Heaven who has created woman with a divine purpose. The Relief Society is today a worldwide sisterhood where woman from all over the world can stand unified with their faith to stand together, lift each other, and serve each other. Do Mormons worship Joseph Smith?

Sister Maynez
Mormons do not worship Joseph Smith. Just because he was at the head of the Restoration of the LDS church does not mean that he began it from scratch, it also doesn't mean that we think of him more than a mortal man that lived on the earth. He was a great man chosen of God with the sacred calling to restore the fullness of Christ's church to this earth. Show more Show less
