Hi I'm Shanna

I was born and raised in California, I am an athlete, a mother, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

I am 24 years old and have the privilege to be a stay at home mom for my little girl. I studied Exercise Science in college and love to play sports. Soccer is my favorite, I was doing running and swimming for a while. I love spending time with my family, just laughing and playing games.

Why I am a Mormon

At first, I had a really hard time getting an answer if this was the right church. I grew up in the Church and relied on my parents and their testimonies, but as I got older I needed to make my own choice and gain my own testimony. I know that there are so many churches out there and every one seems to say that they are the right one. One of the beliefs that I was taught as a principle in the Mormon church was that "We claim the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may." I didn't like thinking that God would punish you or you wouldn't make it into heaven if you didn't pick the right church. In my personal study and prayer I have found that God is a God of love. I know I don't have all of the answers but I there is not one thing that I regret by living the teachings of the Mormon Church. I found that if I follow the teachings of the Church Of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints I have hope and happiness. I believe in God and Jesus Christ. I know I can be forgiven of my sins. I know I can pray and be heard. I know that there is hope. I know that I can live again with my family forever and that is why I am Mormon.

How I live my faith

I get to live my faith in my everyday life. I might not be the most outspoken person, but I do have my beliefs that help me through out my everyday life. I try to teach my daughter that she is loved by her Heavenly Father. I also know that although I am not perfect and have short comings, I am also loved by God and Jesus Christ.

What is a “testimony” that Mormons speak of?

Shanna
A testimony is an individual questioning the teachings of the gospel; through scripture study and prayer a person can find the truth for themselves. Learning that we have a loving God and that Jesus Christ suffered the Atonement so we can be forgiven of our sins; are just some of the things that an individual can pray about and receive an answer about. The testimony that we share or talk about is our personal understanding of what we have learned by seeking for our own answers. A big part of gaining a testimony is to be aware of the Holy Ghost or Spirit to help us feel in our hearts and minds that the answer that we receive is actually from God. Show more Show less
