Hi I'm Cassidy

I'm a mom of four: 1 girl and 3 boys. I work full-time to put my husband through school as an administrative assistant.

About Me

I grew up in a small LDS community and went to college in a community that was not LDS for a short time. I decided that was not for me, so I transferred to a university closer to home. I reconnected with a high school boyfriend there and we were married in the Salt Lake City temple. I graduated with a bachelor's degree. We have 4 kids that keep our hands full: 1 girl and 3 boys. My husband continued his education then found a job. He was laid off from his job this spring and has decided to return to school in the town mentioned before that is not dominantly LDS. After being a stay at home mom for the last 9 years, I have re-entered the workforce full time as an administrative assistant (not my degree or even close) to make ends meet while my husband works on his Bachelors. I serve in the Young Women's organization as a Laurel advisor. I love to snowboard, listen to music and bake.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church with a family that is mostly mormon. I chose to stay active in the church because of my testimony. My testimony has not always been strong and sometimes I just went along with what my parents and extended family believed, but over time, I built a testimony of my own. The church just makes sense to me. I can feel that it is the true church. I often wonder how people who are not of our faith function from day to day. The questions: where did I come from? where am I going? what is the purpose of life? are all answered for me. I know where I came from. I came from Heaven where I lived with Heavenly parents and Jesus Christ and my family. I know where I am going. My goal is to live worthy enough to return to our Heavenly parents and to be with my family forever through the blessings of eternal marriage in the temple. I know that the purpose of life is to be tested and proven worthy to live with Heavenly father, and more importantly, help others along their way too. I love my kids and my husband and want nothing more to be with them forever. I know that Joseph Smith was a real prophet chosen by God and that he restored the true church to the earth. I know that we have a living prophet today, President Thomas S. Monson who receives guidance and revelations for us from our Heavenly Father. The heavens are not sealed! I believe in the priesthood that my husband holds and I believe that Heavenly Father communicates with me through prayer and through the Holy Ghost. I know that Heavenly Father knows each of us personally and loves us. I know that there is a unique plan for each of us on this earth.

How I live my faith

Right now, my job keeps me pretty busy, but on Sundays and Wednesdays I serve in my ward as a Laurel's advisor. This involves teaching Sunday lessons to young women who are 16 and 17 years old. On Wednesdays, I get together with these same girls and another leader to participate in fun activities that are gospel based. Last week, we had a "Kitchen Kombat" activity that the young men in our ward planned. We went to the university and used the food science labs (a large kitchen) to compete in a cooking competition. It was lots of fun that the leaders and kids enjoyed.
