Hi I'm Jarom

I'm an energetic and kind young man. I'm a long distance runner and I love the outdoors. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I was born and raised in the United States. I like spending time with my family playing board games and going camping. I'm the only brother in my family and I have four sisters and two amazing parents! I love backpacking and rock climbing. In Aug 2012, at age 18, I ran my first marathon in Park City and I plan to run many more after my mission. I like to learn but struggle with procrastination quite a bit. I like math and science but I'm not exactly sure what I want to do for a career yet. Life is great!

Why I am a Mormon

I was born and raised in the LDS (Mormon) Church. I was taught by my parents and church leaders all about the gospel truths and standards growing up. For most of my childhood I relied on the beliefs of my parents and just followed their good examples. As I grew older though I realized I couldn't just go off of what everyone else says but I must learn for myself of the truthfulness of the gospel. I have gradually developed a habit of regular scripture study and I have prayed many time for my own testimony of the gospel. I wanted to know for myself if the Book of Mormon was true, Joseph Smith was a true Prophet, and that Christ truly is my Savior. I don't remember one specific time where I all of a sudden knew or strongly believed that the church and all the doctrine it contains was true. I just know that over time with many little experiences of feeling the Holy Ghost and feeling peace as I learned the gospel, I have come to know that all the things that my religion teaches are true. I have gained a testimony of my own through the power of the Holy Ghost and as I continue to live the gospel, that testimony will continue to get stronger and stronger. Because of the peace and joy that come to me as I live the commandments and learn more of the gospel my desire for learning more and sharing my beliefs becomes greater and greater and I want all people to feel as I do. That is why I am a Mormon.

How I live my faith

I am now on a full time mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am still at the Misionary Training Center in Provo, Utah, learning the Portuguese Language, but I am going to the country of Cape Verde in a few weeks. I am serving from November 2012 to 2014 and I am so very excited to go help people come closer to Christ and learn of his gospel. I have learned so much here about my purpose in life and about God's love for us. I'm loving it! In my youth I have served as a leader to other youth and I have learned a lot from my dad and mom about leadership and love towards those we serve. I hope to continue to serve in the church throughout my life and to be a good example to those around me.
