Hi I'm Steven Erekson

I've lived in Utah all my life, I absolutely love music, and I am a Mormon.

About Me

In high school I was involved in choir, symphonic band, and marching band. I plan on majoring in music composition in college. I often find myself playing an instrument, writing music and poetry, and drawing sketches in my spare time. I love taking LDS classes while in school such as seminary and institute. I am the second of five children in my family. One of my favorite out door activities is golfing.

Why I am a Mormon

I have been a Mormon since birth. I have been taught in this religion all my life, but the reason I am a Mormon isn't because I was born as one, but because I know without doubt that what I have been taught all these years are true. I can see it's truthfulness in the way that faithful members of the church act and live and I see the consequences of their good choices and the person they are because of their faithfulness and know that is the type of person that I want to be.

How I live my faith

I regularly attend Sunday meetings to show faith and commitment to my beliefs. I currently serve as a hometeaching coordinator. My job in this calling is to contact each priesthood holder who is assigned families to visit monthly and check to see how things are going in their callings as hometeachers and also to make sure they have the opportunity to visit each family they are assigned. I also serve as a hometeacher myself. As hometeachers it is our irresponsibility to offer help to families when it is needed and to meet with them at least once a month to simply chat or visit and share a gospel message when appropriate. When I am asked to speak in Sunday meetings I gladly and excitedly accept the invitation and consider it to be a calling just as hometeaching or any other responsibility in the church would be.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

Steven Erekson
No, in fact, no member is required to serve a mission. It is most traditional and expected of the church for a young man to serve a mission at the age of 18 now. Young women can serve a mission at the age of 19 if they so desire. So it is expected, but not required that a young man serve a mission and young women are encouraged to serve missions, but are less expected to do so than young men. Show more Show less
