Hi I'm Sophia

I'm a college student at SFASU and I plan to be a nurse when I graduate. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm a college student. I'm always going and always have something to get done. Even though I get really busy and I feel that if I stop to read the scriptures or to go to church I'll lose time. That is not true in the least bit, if anything stopping to read or go to church has helped me so much and has made my life so much happier than if I had not gone to church. Also while growing up I usually went to church by myself. Yeah, it was hard and I wanted to stop going several times, but I knew that if I stopped going I would hate myself for giving up on the biggest and best part of my life, as well as not truly being happy, a happy that will last for a eternity. Going to church by myself also gave me a great strength and a firm foundation in my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I have gotten down on my knees and prayed to know if this is the true church of God. I have gone through many trials in my life and the Savior has always been there for me and has shown me my greatest possibilities. I know that The Book of Mormon is another testament of Christ and that there is a prophet of God on this Earth today. I have also known true happiness through the teachings of the church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to be the best example I can be for others. I read the Book of Mormon every night before I go to bed and it brings me peace and gives me strength to keep going. Also on my college campus I am the president of the Latter Day Saint Student Association. We will invite our missionaries on campus and pass out free stuff like food and pamphlets to those who want it. Also we host a bible study on campus Thursday nights that any one is welcome to. My ward is very active in the community. Last year we collected good for the soldiers overseas, helped with a veterans day celebration and so much more.

Why don’t Mormons drink coffee, tea, or alcohol? What is the Mormon Church’s law of health and proper diet?

Sophia
We don't drink tea, coffee, and alcohol because we believe in the Word Of Wisdom. This is a gift from God letting us know that our bodies are temples and that we need to take care of our bodies. The Word of Wisdom also states that we should not take any illegal drugs into our bodies. By following the Word of Wisdom, we as members of the church are able to keep our bodies clean and not restricted by the addictive substances of the world. Show more Show less
